Hi all,
I have a 1980 model RA40 Celica. It has the original 3 spoke steering wheel with a horn button on each spoke. The problem is that the horn will only work intermittently.. Like when im driving along tapping on it in time with the music.. basically it dosent work when I need it.
Each of the buttons has worked at times. but mostly pressing any or all of them results in nothing.
Is there a possibility that the horn on the RA40 has a common fault? I havent yet pulled it aparet, but im not expecting to find anything out of place..
Has anyone had a similar issue? Found a resolution?
thanks for takign time to read this!

pull steering wheel off- problem wil either be wiring behind horn button or gunk/crap built up on the wiper/contacts between wheel and boss

indeed. i had a simiar problem when i put on a new steering wheel, it was just that the wires werent making contact properly, so the horn would only work every now and then.

Yep, I rekon your right the wiper contacs sounds the go.. From memory, if I press the horn while turning, it works..
Whats the best thing to clean the contacts with ? A cotton bud? Degreaser? WD40?
