Hell no.
The GT4 is permanent AWD and doesn't have that funky torque split in the middle like the GTR's.
No crazy drifting for you.

there is however a lever on the gearbox (CS gearboxs only) that can either select AWD, RWD or FWD but its only for use in the garage for diagnostic purposes and the manual does not reccomend driving in any mode other than AWD for any amount of time.
There is a previous thread on here that explores this and has a screen dump of the procedure from the GT4 manual but couldnt be bothered searching as its a mute point if it cant be driven with, but to answer your question yes there is an option, though its not a fuse, more like a mechanical lever.

Depends, I heard that the early '86 model had a locked centre diff that you generally left unlocked (in FWD) for normal driving, but after that all GT4s have some form of LSD in the centre (usually viscous).

BTW, that lever has 3 modes.
1)Normal Viscour Coupling
2)Open Vidcous Coupling
3)Lock FWD only
No rwd option at all.

so they were selectable? they weren't just paermanent all wheel drive. and btw if u wanted to make a rear wheel drive u could just take out the front shaft and have the centre diff locked up all the time.

might sound stupid, but could you remove the driveshafts, take the bell off the outer end and put it in the wheels and plug up the gearbox? or just put the bells in the gearbox also? effectively just removing the shafts?

It would work in theory, but you still ahve the problem of 50% of the torque being thrown at the front driveshafts, which are no longer there.
Also the centre diff doesn't like huge differences in torque transfer, and will 'blow up' if you don't load it evenly.
Why do you want RWD anyways. No-one has asked this yet.

| That definitely won't work - the only way to make this work is to remove any play in the centre diff (ie locking it up) and removing the front driveshafts.
But once you've drive AWD there's no need to go back to RWD...besides you can drift AWD no problems if you have commitment (and maybe a bit more than the standard torque)

turbocaldina mmm unless u have a lot of power 450-500+hp the drive shafts ain't going to shatter, remember the mr2 turbo its the same as a gt4 but rwd same drive shafts and also people use the gt4 drive shafts for the 3sgte swap and I can't say that i've seen anyone mention them shattering. I'm using them at the moment too.
Unless your talking about the drive shaft running to the rear diff

Don't know why anyone would want 2WD on a GT-Four...

I replaced my driveshafts from the stock RAV4 to the GT-Four, and I gotta say the difference is remarkable. The GT-Four shaft is about ¼" longer than the RAV4's on either side, which eliminates the need to use a spacer near the seal on the gearbox side. You gotta be pulling some REAL serious ponies to snap these bitches...
GT-Four shaft on the left
RAV4 shaft on the right.

those gt4 shafts are fairly hefty. id be very proud of my motor if it destroyed them.
and yeah i didnt think the 'remove the shaft' idea would work, otherwise it would have been done long before
