Can any one advise me of a decent place to get a FMIC installed along with BOV relocation. Some where in the sydney CBD would be good, or anywhere not to far out. Ive got the parts just need some one to do the pipping etc. Thanks.

we{austrack} can do it for you. we use mandrel bends and tig weld and polish the piping and use the least amount of silcone pipe as is possable. we machine the brakets for the intercooler and fit a proper outlet for the BOV. if you havnt got the intercooler yet let us get it as we can get the best there is. if anyone wants one just ask for a price, you wont find a better one from anywere.

How much for a full FMIC install in a Soarer ?
I prefer a black core (sleeper style).

I am getting my intercooler and radiator including all pipework etc done in Blacktown.
The company is called "Tony's Make it in Metal" and will be in full swing early next year. Tony should be set up in a new Factory in Arndell Park by then.
Tony will be set up to manufacture not just Intercoolers and the like but Rollcages, Drag chassis and one of machining and manufacture.

Mike: What sort of price we looking at for a front mounted intercooler to handle a 1g-gte with a gt40 600hp roller bearing turbo, running upto (and lets be over zealous here) 35psi.
Similar positioning to the one on the enforcer.com.au site on the red ra23.
Lemme know how much.
I'd be looking to buy ASAP

SUPRAGTE no prob can make it exactly the same if thats what you want or if i see how the pipings run and see the room etc that you have i might be able to come up with a better design.
mick
Soarer
piping is diffrent as i will have to see the car with you there so we can work out exactly what you want so you can keep it to your budget. there a two types of bends we use, stainless or alloy both being mandrell bends. there is also a few diffrent ways it can be run so its easyer to quote after giving you the opptions and then you can decide which way you want to go.
mick
stradlater
it will be around the $1200 mark just need the dimensions and special needs. they are all tested to 45psi when made so 35psi is no probs. i can fax you a design sheet if it will make it easyer to give me the dimensions.
1G-GTEFreAk
what car is it for?

The link works, and all I can say is "whoa !" very nice indeed.
I'll have to leave it until after xmas, cos I'm low on dosh, but I'll be in contact one way or another when I decide to drop in a FMIC.

Kingmick,
My IC has a tiny crack along the bracket on the outside of the tank ends (its a VR4 IC)
How much you reckon to zip it up with the tig and pressure test it for me?... its not hard to get to.

the shop is at minto and the workshop is near oran park{cathrine fields}.
AbaddonGZE
why did it slit? if its not from an impact it would be from the way it is mounted as the car body would be twisting and stresing the cooler, unless of course you have been running huge boost.
$50 should be fine depending on how bad the crack is. ill let you no before its done after i have seen it.

I don't actually want the installation done, I just want to buy the intercooler itself.. is it likely to still be $1200? I have been quoted an average of $800 elsewhere, maybe I am missing something somewhere?

the diffrents is quality and how well they work. if there is a better intercooler in australia we havnt found it or we would sell it. the intercoolers we sell are the best on the market in australia and when we find better we will sell them. we could sell you an intercooler for $800 but we only sell cooler the we have used and tested on the street and track. the commodore above is a good example. 702hp at the wheels and very low inlet temp with min pressure drop. its very easy to tell a good cooler on an engine like the commodore as it has alot of power and a motec m800 so we can tell by the power output and the fuel and timming maps how well the intercooler is doing its job. intercoolers made a big diffrence to power when we were testing a few, the colder the charge the more power.
hope this helps as you will get alot of people telling you diffrent things, you can buy you cooler were ever you like it up to you. ive been involed with toymods since day dot so im just happy to help members. im just try to work out at the moment how much dicount members will get, i keep harping at them{the owners of austrack motorsport} and will tell the board that members will get 10% off list and more if we get good sales from it. just have to show members card.

what denotes a good intercooler from your better intercooler? I only have a limited space to work with, IE ra23 front mount intercooler, and I want to run up to and possibly in excess of 30+ psi (be it now or later, I want that head room) and I've been told that the space provided will limit the available amount of boost I can run.
Is this true?

yes ut can be a factor if you cant keep the charge cool. but a more effienct turbo will help. there are a number of ways to get more intercooler surface area in a confined space. eg you can tilt the intercooler and radiator forward or back to make better use of the air going past the core's. but to give you the best options i need to see the space you have in person. and as it will only be 30psi at certain times there are ways to keep the charge cool. bring the car to the workshop or shop and ill give you a few suggestions.

ummm, it may some like a silly question
but the 'soarer' said the intercoolers come in black for "sleepa" purposes,
my question is,
Is the black colour a spray on, or is that how its made, like i only know the grey/silver style, so having it black, would it affect the performance of the cooler ?

you can just spray paint it black if you like. toyota made theres like this because it is suppose to dissipate heat better but if you look at any race car either rally, circuit or drag and they are all polished because with a good cooler it does nothing. the coolers we sell are not only the best performers they are also the best in terms of workmanship in welding and polishing so painting them would be like painting a ferrari with a broom. they are black because they are sprayed as you cant get black alloy!
hope this helps

You could always anodise it black if you wanted to though, that would be kind of trick.
Paint a Ferrari with a broom - yeah I could do that, just to stir some car buffs up!

Another reason I want a black one is that theoretically it will dissipate heat much better than a polished one.
I've done 2 years of University physics, and in thermodynamics, we learnt that a body's ability to dissipate heat is directionally proportional to it's ability to absorb heat.
Therefore, black absorbs heat most quicky & is able to dissipate heat more quickly than any other colour.
Just my 2 cents worth ... good to see I learnt something at Uni.

BUT if its exposed to the sun (which can be the case on some crazy setups) i would imagine any advantage would negated by the black paint soaking the heat up.
