The central locking in the Cressida just statrted playing up. When I unlock from the driver door lock or armrest button it unlocks then immeadiatly locks itself. If I use the passenger door lock it stays unlocked as normal, but if I try it again it stuffs up (so works, not work, works again.....?) It makes no difference if the engine is running or not, so I do not think it is battery voltage related. There is no alarm or remote central locking installed.
ok think I have isolated the fault now. The car now locks/unlocks fine from the drivers door lock. But will not lock from the armrest switch. I have pulled the armrest switch apart and cannot see any problem with the switch or any dry joints on the PCB. I am assuming there is a fault in the armrest switch circuit board. If someone can point me to a circuit diagram of the switch panel I am sure that I can fix the fault.
Played around with it some more, the locks started randomly operating. The problem goes away when the armrest switch is unplugged
Well i'm a noob, and i dont know too much about the central locking system on my car (and sorry, no diagrams), so you prob know this already...
I noticed that a feature of these cars is if you leave the keys in the ignition (all the way off, but still in the lock) and try to use the armrest switch to lock the doors, it locks then immediatley unlocks (in the same way you describe), presumably this is to stop old gradnpa from locking his keys in his cressida , perhaps then the problem could lie with the ignition part somehow?
