rx7 brake differences between s4 & s5 Fri, 11 February 2005 23:01 Go to next message
hey guys
as rx7 brakes are used as a common upgrade to early celicas, i notice that it is mentioned that you need the series 4 or 5 brakes.
but is there any difference between these 2 series of brakes?
dba lists a 276mm rotor for the series 4 and 294mm for an FD series (is this series 5?).
is there any visual differences between 4 and 5 (of the calliper, not the car) or are they exactly the same and the FD series is the series 6?
cheers
Damien

The are two diffent Brake types used on the Series 4 & 5 RX7. To put it simply you are probably after the 4 piston calipers these came on the 5 lug RX7's.

FC -> series 4/5
FD -> series 6

I guess you'd just want the calipers off a series 4 or 5 turbo.. not the early non-turbo series 4.
Im not sure about series 6 brakes but id have a guess that they are bigger and pretty good too, to accomodate for the twin-turbo.
