it was advertised for $2800 and thanks to someone in my other thread about RA60's i went to this website that told me how much RA65's are worth which was 1.8 - 2.5k depending on things.
so i rang the guy and said that 2.5k is the max ill go
anyway.. i had 2.5k but i thought gawd damn i aint paying that much even if it has no rust
yes ... yes i am a cheapskate .. but hey
sooooo i went in and said mate .. i only have 2.3 had a little cry then he goes "no way"
i was like WHATTT!
so anyway i had a mate with me who had the extra $200 so he was like .. dude ill lend you $100 but thats all i got ...
so in the end it was $2.4k which is not bad i guess considering that the guy selling it.. it wasnt his it was his "girlfriends" who kept it in a garage from 1984 - 2003 before she got a "Hyundai getz"
it runs like a dream .. also on the way out to see my Cuz last night i burnt my first lancer
damn it feels good driving a 2.4i celi compared to a 1.6carby rolla

I'd be careful on that affair... Open the hatch and take off the plastic cover where the little boot light is. I had a bit of hidden rust there, and it looks pretty bad..
Just keep that in mind, such a pertty RA65 doesnt need rust.
Needs a black interior tho, or a deeper blue.
Cheers,

Hey, really nice RA65!!! Just bought one myself, but it is no where near as good as yours! Body looks really nice, and interior looks in pretty good knick. Know what you mean about the oil filter, absolute bastard to get out, once you find it. The one that was originally in mine was black, so I was searching with a mate for 30 minutes trying to find where the bastard was. About your stereo console, I have the same prob, but apparently there is something that you can put in the top (or the bottom, depending on where you put the stereo), a thing that you can put your wallet or whatever in, don't know exactly what they are called. But if anyone knows what I'm talking about let me know, and let me know where you can get them.

Interior looks really cool at night. You mentioned that your console lights don't work at night time, reckon there is a loose wire somewhere or something, cause they should definately be lighting. Got the same model as you and they do light up.
Still can't get over how great the condition of the body work is, really awesome.

Nice wheels.
what are you going to do with it.
I've always had SA63's but my mate has a RA65 .
Those blind things are gay they are better off without them.
Just make sure you keep the cover that provides access to the rear lights in tact.
cuz if mine slips off in the dark i can't see out my back window.
Look under the plastic cover on the back window i've got a bad feeling that u will be shocked.

Yes Mookie there is a tad of rust in there .. looks as if it was fixed up on each corner.. but a job well dont because he has (from the look of it) cleaned the rust and put on that spray that stops the rust continuing
Fitted my Airfilter today from the local GO Gear store.
we went in and the overly swetty guy at the counter reccomended that i dont use a POD filter but insted use a K&N filter that is the same size/fit as the original and use the box that is in there
then he went on to explain that the box even though it wont have as much surface area to suck in air it provides a shelter for the AFM and the filter from all the heat (and BYGOD HES RIGHT my celica heats up a fuckload) so i agreed and got the stock filter by K&N installed it then thought .. well how stupid is having this box with a small intake pipe
so i went and bought one of those extension pipes and have brought it under the car for the cold air (and also a bigger diameter pipe means more air)
heres some pics ...
now my only worry is that water going up the pipe ... but that is very unlikely isnt it ?!
this week coming ... its exhaust time !
prolly go for 2.25" with a 2 hotdogs and a cannon ?

When you left the bonnet it is located on the left hand side. These fuel filters are reasonably hard to find, not used in many cars. My mechanic had to get one in from Melbourne. So before you change it make sure that you have already bought one.

The pics below should hopefully help you with the location of the fuel filter. The arrow shows the top of it. Bit of a bugger to get at, but shouldn't be difficult to replace it.
To see if it needs replacing run the engine get it warmed up a little and see if the filter leaks at all. There are also other ways to tell aswell, like if the engine is noticeable lacking in performance at all. It doesn't hurt to change it.
Hope that helps.
Just got some new car seat covers for my Celica, absolutely love them. Just dying to show them off!!!

The outside is actually grey, but it has a lot of rust on it, and the paint is a little dodgy. I've actually got a mate who repairs aeroplanes, and he has access to the hangers where they paint the planes. He said that we'll make a day of stripping back all the paint on the car, sorting out the rust, then spraying the car with aircraft paint. Who knows, might make the car fly.

Hey, does anyone in this forum have a diagram of the fuse box under the drivers side kick panel, which includes all the relays, flashers etc.?
Also was wondering if anyone has every had any problems starting their 22RE's in the mornings? Mines really struggles, especially on the cold mornings. Tested everything, injectors are firing, ignition coil is working fine, new sparks, disrubution cables, can't figure out why it is so hard to start in the mornings. No problems when driving though, drives beautifully.

I need to measure it a few more times, only done it once so far, managed to get about 250k to a tank but as I said I haven't measured it properly. Am running it on BP Ultimate though, and that really makes a difference Huge difference in power, and the engine sounds quieter and runs so much smoother. It literally runs like a new car. Am hoping to get a pod filter in there soon, maybe next Uni holidays, and perhaps a new exhaust by Christmas.

with the Massive amounts of rain lately in Perth ive come across some major problems *listens to the hair dryers in the background*
seems that my RA65 is VERY fricken Leaky
every shower the boot floods pools of water in there !
ive seen it happen before so i took off the lights and remade a seal for them and got "Selleys clear window sealer" and sealed all the gaps
tested her a few times with the hose on a hot day and no more leaks from around the lights ...
then today i wake up to find that the boot is soaked .. my sub box drenched and the floor/carpet behind the drivers seat AND ALSO the drivers seat is soaking wet ...
about a week ago i fixed a MAJOR leak in the front windscreen in the top right corner - the seal had 100% rotted so i just pressed the window down and caked it with "no more gaps" no more leaking from there .. nor on the way to bunnings today to get more "clear gap glue shit"
just the boot ...
ive torn all the carpet outta the boot and amp+sub + everything .. taken off all the plastic .. now i find that the seals around the window on the hatch (bottom L+R) have also rotted !
ive caked it up for now and are yet to test with water ... heres some sad pics

That is one of the biggest problems with the RA6x and SA6x series Celica's. That area of the boot is prone to rust, you will never find a Celica that doesn't have rust there. Mine has got it and it is starting to eat its way through. Never had any problems with water leaking through yet, but decided to seal the outside of the boot with some no more gaps to help slow down the rust, and prevent any water getting through. That's the best thing to do I reckon. You should try taking the plastic bit off on the inside of the boot where the light is and just have a look in after hosing the car with some water, or after a light shower and see if it is damp at all.
Hope that helps mate, good luck trying to sort it out.

Dude, have you checked under the upright rubber seal that goes around the boot when its open? When you open the hatch, pull the rubber seal upwards and you might be unpleasantly suprised if there is so much water leaking in....

i got all the rust out then resprayed around the lights and the number plate so it was colour coded with the body.
then i made a insulation around the back of the lights so that water could not get in.
then i re sprayed the plastic all in the boot.
i noticed also the 84 celica has no boot floor and you can see the spare tyer so i made a new floor and gave it new carpeting with the sub bolted to the new floor and that stoped so much rattling having a new boot flooring and insulation around the whole boot.

That is pretty shocking, but it is also the problem region on every RA6x and SA6x Celica, you won't find one without any rust in those areas. The body of your car is still an awesome condition. I reckon a good thing to do now would be to either get a new boot or take that one off, strip back the paint, give it a good clean, fill in the blanks wth fibreglass, then give the whole thing a a good coat of rust protection and then a coat of paint, and put in some new seals.. That's what I'm planning on doing to mine when I get the chance.
