the AE111/AE101 trueno and levin were JDM only vehicles. They were never sold within Aust and are only availabe thru grey import.
This said they do not fall under the recently amended 15 year rule or the newly added 30 year rule and require a compliance bay in a garage to bring one in.
Al palmer of sydney toyota fame is currently in the process of getting approval for a compliance bay at his car yard.
They cost anything from $9000 to $19000 landed complied and registered.

Greg McIntosh of MACJAP Motors Abbotsbury NSW, is the only RAWS for the AE111, as per the Dotars website. Al Palmer, is 6 weeks away from approval, as of March 01.

I owned a AE111 Trueno (It was a Personal Import for sale at a local import yard)
It was a really nice car! Unfortunatly it got smashed by some drunk who ran through a red light.
Im also looking at getting a Levin (when I can find one).
I have also owned 2 twin cam 16 AE82 Corollas (1 hatch, 1 Seca) and a AE92 SX hatch. and a AE82 Sedan. The Trueno was by far the best out of them all.
The 20 Valve is really responive and revs right up to 8000rpm
My trueno was the 4 speed auto though, I will get a Manual next (hopefully a 6 speed ).
The only downside to this car is the fact that parts are near impossible to get! Even parts are scarse in Japan as this model wasen't that popular over there apparently. Modification parts are also hard to obtain and are very expensive so be warned if you plan to "do it up" even a modest mod such as adding lowered springs will set you back a bit as the springs need to be custom made (unless you can find some genuine jap springs).
If you are looking at getting one try and buy one with most of the mods done to it, to save you months of waiting for parts and heaps of cash! Still it is a great and unique model and shure does turn alot of heads! (not to mention confuse alot of ppl )
