The first one looks better. The second one looks too generic. Every man and his dog has 5 spoke wheels.
My humble opinion of course.

I doubt OM's will fit over your brakes.
I know they wouldn't on Glens car.
Fitment of FR's is debatable too.
I thought you were already getting custom rims?

of course they'll fit over my brakes - I just might have to sacrifice some dish
I was going to.
then I spoke to them today and because my offset requirements have changed (thanks to the skyline rotors) what htey had planned for me no longer works
so I'm back up shit creek without a paddle, and my car has just been finished at the workshop!

I was under the impression that all simmons had the same centre, just different outers.
So no matter whether you have -10 offest, or +50 offset, you still only have 30mm for caliper clearance.
Unless you plan to use spacers.
At least, this was my understanding.

Depends what colour your car is going to be in the end and whether either will clear your brakes. As a rule though, I prefer the FR's.

hrm
well, that could be homosexual
I specifically mentioned that I'd need 38mm backspace to clear the calipers.
Might have to call again tomorrow and speak to someone who knows what they're talking about
if that is the case, I could be in trouble :\

Backspace is the wrong term anyway Greg.
Backspace is from hub face to inner rim edge.
You want from hub face to inner spoke edge.
Look up the term backspace in Google.
You might have to send Simmons a picture of what you need.

The thing with the 1z is they look good from 17" and onward, they dont look too good in 15,16. If your getting 16z get nO.2 .

well, I'm getting 17s
I agree with farkunell on this one tho - while the FRs look nice, everyone has 5 spokes. OMs with painted centre might be the go
assuming I can get them to clear my brakes

Those pics above on the car are 17" FR's and 16" OM's.

In a rush - no time to read thread. BUT: black centred OM's RULE. And let me know what offset you go with - I too want black-centred OM's (prob 16x8) with skyline rotors and discs).

Greg,
We have 7 different styles in 16", 17", 18" and 19" wheels. Wheels are made to order and caliper clearance can vary from zero to 60mm depending on style and vehicle specification. To get the offset you require the front wheels have 43mm clearance on brakes.
Regards Simmons Wheel.

I agree.
I'd go for the OM's with a charcoal centre rather than black.
But it is your car, so GO man !!!!

Good question.
My last quote for simmons was $600 per rim for 17x7, and $620 for 17x8.
So I'd assume $650ish for 17x9.
Will be interesting to see what Greg gets.

for the info of all interested in simmons to go over big brakes:
"Greg,
Wheel has 43mm clearance from 164mm diameter out to approx 340mm. Wheel spoke then curves up slightly to meet rim mounting face"
