Run Rabbit, run, run, run

Hi,
Is it just me or does that song get into your head and just stays there? I now sing it to my family who throw objects at me 'cos they hate it with a passion. Now it's their heads and now they're starting to sing it.
I love driving them crazy - to get them back for all the years they've made me crazy (and getting crazier).
Before "Run Rabbit" it was "Mares eat oats" and before that it was "Dropkick me jesus". I am truly astounded, and often amazed, by my marked immaturity for such an old fella.
For the first time in 25years "Dancing Queen" has been replaced by another song. But, I'm sure it's only temporary, "Dancing Queen" will come back to haunt me until the day I die.
Anyway, someone's coming down the stairs, so I'm off to inject a nasty, horrendously annoying jingle into their sponge-like brain.

Hi,
The original song for the Sultana Bran add is "I heard it through the Grapevine". Damn my aging memory, I can't remember who did it, but, it's a really good song. I'm sure RObRA40 or the slut will know who it was... maybe even Farkurnell. Pity that Kellogs have ruined it now.
I agree with Neko, the entire family needs to be bitch-slapped for that ad.
Dunno the MBF one. I'll have to check it out. Dunno the Banana Phone one, but I remember the Banana-boat one with the little kid on the beach. I think that was a Muppet song, but not sure.
Sucko to all of youse now for having jingles running in your head. Muhahahahahaha!!!!!
The Run Rabbit song was by some pommie guy and it was a hit back in 1938 or something like that. Hehehehe, that's probably why Hitler tried to invade England!

Run Rabbit Run by Noel Gay & Ralph Butler
On the farm, every Friday
On the farm, its rabbit pie day.
So, every Friday that ever comes along,
I get up early and sing this little song:
Run rabbit - run rabbit - Run! Run! Run!
Run rabbit - run rabbit - Run! Run! Run!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Goes the farmer's gun.
Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run.
Run rabbit - run rabbit - Run! Run! Run!
Don't give the farmer his fun! Fun! Fun!
He'll get by
Without his rabbit pie
So run rabbit - run rabbit - Run! Run! Run!
Run, run rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to start another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.

When they first played this ad like 2 years ago, i used to watch it just to see his freaky eyes, and then of course the song got stuck in my head.

Aaaargh that Sultana Bran jingle is the corniest piece of crap on TV at the moment.....can't stand it! And to top it off it's an insult to one of the great songs too!
As mentioned, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" was originally a Marvin Gaye song. Creedence Clearwater Revival did a great cover version of it too (especially the long version). Probably been covered many times over the years, never heard of a Ben Harper version but he might have and I just haven't heard it.
And yeah the Banana Boat song is indeed based on a Muppet song, which was simply called "Ma Nah Ma Nah". It had absolutely no english words in it, the muppet involved (forgot which one) just made a series of noises to the music throughout which was pretty funny. A band called Skin did a cover of it in 1996, that song is on the Triple J Hottest 100 Volume 4 CD.

You're right b1gb3n Marvin had one of the original versions but he didn't write it.......
This Motown classic was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. Strong came up with the idea, and asked Motown writers Holland/Dozier/Holland to work on it with him. They refused to credit another writer, so Strong took it to Whitfield, who helped put it together.
Whitfield and Strong recorded this with Gaye in 1967, but could not convince Motown head Berry Gordy to release it. He chose Holland/Dozier/Holland's "Your Unchanging Love" over this as Gaye's next single.
When Gordy refused to release Gaye's version, Whitfield recorded it with a new Motown singer, Gladys Knight. He got her version released, and it became a #2 hit in the US, which led Gordy to reconsider and release Gaye's version.
Whitfield and Strong wrote several other Motown hits, including "Ain't Too Proud To Beg," "Just My Imagination," and "Money (That's What I Want)."
This is the longest running Motown #1 hit. It topped the US chart for 7 weeks.
This was Gaye's first #1 hit
Gotta love Google.
Cheers, Greg.

Hi,
Onya Farkurnell, good info there!
Gladys Knight and the Pips. Another good old gal. I think she did "Midnight Train to Georgia". Good song that brings back some old memories.
