Hi everyone,
Hopefully theres someone who is a suspension expert out there.
I have a newish 2004 Ateva. The rear end seems quite floaty (Im used to driving a Commodore with the FE suspension pack)and cornering leaves a lot to be desired.
Im in Sydney and was hoping someone has done some work on Ateva suspension or could direct me to someone who has.
Thanks
Phill
Phill,
Welcome to the forum.
There is no way that your Camry will handle anything like a Commodore with the FE2 pack, so you will have some work to do to get this away from its comfort bias and more towards sport.
You should try and research with Toyota what they do with the suspension in the Camry Sportivo / Touring models and that would give you a good guide to the path you could take with your car.
Given its a 2004 model I doubt that much exists aftermarket for that car yet.
I would give Whiteline Suspension a call and pick their brain.
While I don't think that springs, shocks or even uprated sway bars are available yet, a front strut tower brace and a set of camber adjustable bolts are on their price list.
The way I would go is see what Toyota has done with the Sportivo and price those components, and start with a bigger front sway bar and the camber bolts. And then assess each suspension mod one at a time and build up to what you are happy with.
