1G-GTE weird sounds coming from oil sump

hi all,
I was trying to find the source of a metal mid-sound (not so high pitch) metal knocking sound on my cressida with auto 1GGTE. I used a vacuum line and traced the sound coming from the middle of oil sump. It a slow thumping sound. What could it be ? oil pump ? I'll be puling the sump to see what's going on this weekn and appreciate it if anyone could share some thoughts.
The yellow arrow is roughly showing where the thumping is coming from.

Bearings will make a knocking sound from that region....not long before they disintegrate and cause havoc.

if it's the bearing, would the thumping noise increase with engine speed ?

Whenever i heard a bearing its usually a lot more pronounced than that and you usually dont have to put a vac hose on it to hear wat the problem is. Sounds like some1s taking to the inside of your motor with a hammer.

what could it be then ? I'm sure the thumping does not increase with the engine speed and its kinda slow constant thumping ...any other ideas ? Could it be the oil pump ? loose bolt on the oil pump perhaps?

My Dear Cress TT...long time no hear.
As for any sound coming from the Sump..i'd be worried.Pull the sump off and check. Could be as you said,a loose bolt(let's hope)...
Keep us informed of your findings.

Just an idea, on a mates 1ggte he had a knocking that all mechanics said it was the engine or clutch or gearbox. It ended up being the shitty water pump. Take off the belt and see.
