Torsen LSD for 4AGZE AW11 gearbox

Hi,
Does anybody know what Toyota viscous / Torsen LSDs could fit
into the E153, AW11 MR2 gearbox, and also what drive shafts would be required to support this?
My car has a new engine in the works :-
see http://www.users.bigpond.com/nick.parker/MR2/MR2.h tm
And I want to get an LSD to help out with wheelspin during hard cornering, and traction in general. I'd prefer to get a Torsen or Viscous as hopefully these don't have parts to wear out. I have seen that a Quaife (Torsen LSD) can be had for about $1300 US new, but surely Toyota has something that will fit? Celica GT4? Rav4?
Regards, Nick

from what i understand the sc mr2 has a viscisious (spelling?) lsd standard. (feel free to correct me)
There are KAAZ lsd's for the sc which have a clutch stlye lsd that can be rebuilt and lock up alot quicker than a visciscious lsd. TRD also have a clutch style lsd for the mr2 though im not sure of they would still sell them.
I dont know what it would be like to put down big power through the stock lsd but they seem to be fine putting down 170hp.

Hi,
_Some_ SC MR2's came with a clutch type LSD - it was a factory option. But If I got a second hand one it would likely be pretty high mileage (my MR2 is 17 years old now!). So that is partly why I want to look at a Toyota alternative.
Cheers, Nick

all my sc gearboxes have been lsd. I think the clutch type you are referring to may be a trd one.

I have been looking at application guides for TRD LSDs. Why do the naturally aspirated cars often have helical LSD options and the Turbo/supercharged ones have the clutch type? Does each type suit more, or less, torque or something?

Hi I used to have two MR2 SCs. One had an LSD, the other is open. About half of my mates 4AGZE MR2s also have open diffs.
You are just lucky, assuming you weren't specifically looking for a LSD'd MR2 when you bought yours!

I just assumed they all had lsd's i bought a half cut which had an lsd and then i bought a second hand gearbox after my casing broke and it had an lsd you can definatley feel it in the wet but if you pop the clutch mid corner the lsd makes it understeer like crazy then power oversteer like crazy lots of fun.

Id rather have a clutch one.
Helical ones are nice driven a few cars with them. I havent driven any clutch ones but i hear they make a big improvement. I will be looking at upgrading to a KAAZ diff when i get the gearbox rebuilt with new modified synchros.
