Spark Plugs for JDM 4AGE Thu, 17 February 2005 09:45 Go to next message
I recently got a Sprinter with a 4AGE JDM engine in it and it has BP6ES NGK Plugs in it. I thought that they use something more like the BCPR6EY-11 or something???

Cheers

BP6ES is a similar plug the BCPR6EY-11 only difference is in the tip, the S has a standard tip, where as the y has a v grooved centre which gives a better spark.

Ben.

But the BP6ES is a .8mm gap where the BCPR6EY-11 is a 1.1mm gap.

even with elec ignition, many motors still run better with smaller gap.. 0.8mm is a good place to start.
also the BCPR6EY11
is
14mm thread,
Hex size 5/8" socket. (thats smaller one)
projected nose
RESISTOR (reduces elec interference, but does nto affect spark much, if at all)
V groove
1.1mm gap

so the difference with BP6ES is bigger socket (does it fit in the spark plug tube?) no resistor (slightly more interference in EFI motor perhaps? better R than not sure)
V groove (really makes little difference.. maybe slight), and the gap.. you can gap plugs up, but gapping them down is harder.

Cya, Stewart
