hey guys
just inspecting my sump and pickup. I noticed (unlike my other 3sge here) that my current sump has marks on it from the pickup. Is this safe?/right? I mean it's been like this for four years, so it can't be all bad. Yet perhaps it might help explain some surging I experience on hard right-handers? or not.
I am a little unsure what to make of it. My sump appears in quite good condition on the outside, though there are indications that at one stage it has been 'straightened' because I can see hammer marks on an inside corner.
but it is in much better condition than my other sump here yet my other sump does not have these marks at all.

the mark is the "ring" you can see left by the strainer touching the bottom of the sump 80
ok, I took comparison shots of my two sumps here, and it seems my existing one has actually been damaged and "flattened" somewhat
compare:
(back sump is my current one, front my 'spare' with a big dent near the plug)

AKA smack it back into shape 
Mine was dented like that, FnM hammered it back into shape Will hold a little more oil as a bonus
