Hi people. Just a real quick question I'm sure someone here can answer for me. I am in the market for a 1979/80 KE55 for a just a run-about in Sydney. I am finding it hard to find many and without too much rust or troubles, so if anyone has one let me know. However one has come up that is in good condition and only $1000 but it is an auto, and i definately want a manual. So my question is how easy and quick is it to chnage a car like this over and how much are we talking. I guess i'll need a new box qhich i can get from a wrecker for a few hundred i guess and then instalation? if anyone can help me out be much appreciated. Cheers.

You should just buy a shitter manual one and swap everything over, that is the easiest way, maybe the cheapest too rather than chasing bits and pieces from the wreckers. How long depends how good you are and what tools/facilities you have at your disposal.

Yeah understand but for me swapping stuff over will be too hard as i dont know enough about cars to do it myself and then it emans paying someone or spending alot of time which i aslo dont have. to me the most important thing is the body, just a car with no major rust so i can get a couple years out of it, i know the motors are good and wont die so yeah, to find a good body but having it as auto sucked, still, how much time/effort to convert and how much cash?

Time id say a workshop should be able to do it easy in 2 days, effort = very small and cash you had better start ringing around.
