18R to 1G-GE Engine Conversion Fri, 18 February 2005 06:11 Go to next message
Howdy all

I am researching a conversion that i want to do before buying the parts.

I want to change the standard 18R engine in my 1981 Toyota Hilux to a 1G-GE Engine from a Toyota Soarer/Supra.

I have been told that it is a straight swap and pretty straight forward providing that i can source an bell housing/adaptor plate to match up to the standard 4 sp manual box in the hilux.

Do you guys know of a kit for this or any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers

conversion will be very similar to the 18R->1gg** conversion for RA23/RA28/RA40.

http://www.toymods.org.au -> articles. Read the ones for 1G-GTE conversions, virtually the same will apply.
