does anyone know if you can use any 1ggte loom on any 1ggte??
for example, can a gen 3 loom be used on a gen 1 or 2??

So long as you have the ECU to suit the loom you should be alright. Gen1/2 have the same ECU pins, so you might be able to interchange looms, but for a Gen3 ECU, you'll need a Gen3 loom.

I'm reasonably sure there are differences in the injector plugs too. At least there is on the 1GGZE.

u might wanna cheak the ecu plugs befor u buy there e few different kinds out there i think three different kinds of ecu pins i dunno which ones are which
but if u need to get one get the gen 3 one they are more agressively tuned ecu
and yeah injectors are also different i think (the colours are defenitly different )

The little locators on the side of the injector plugs are different between gen1+2 and gen3, not sure if the plugs are different but i know that the TPS on gen 1 is also different so it might have a different plug and also there is a little thing in the engine bay on a gen 1 loom that looks like a heat sink (controls the fuel switching between 6-12v from idle to throttle) and i have never seen one of these in a gen 3 eng bay.

Some of the other plugs on the loom may be different as well. Things like dash plugs (may not be a problem), injectors, alternator etc. A lot of these may even vary within generations of the motor, ie a gen3 supra will be different to a gen3 soarer.
Having said that, most of the wiring is similar, so plugs can be changed and they will work.
Oh and the layout of the looms varies, ie where things like coil packs are located. The supra loom I have puts it on the opposite side to teh distributer whereas the soarer one puts it right next to the distributer.

it for a convesion, my loom is cut and iv been offered a gen 3 igniter afm injectors, loom and comp. the loom has already been trimmed to just the wires required for the motor.
i have 7M injectors to go on and a bigger turbo and i will be getting an aftermarket ecu, if that makes any difference??
can i use trimmed loom to replace my cut one??

In that case I would just get a loom with the ECU and wire it up from there. If you still want to use the AFM, ignitor etc, then just transfer the plugs over to the new loom.

If your going to run a aftermarket ecu there would hence be no need to worry as you would need to hack a fair bit of it up when thats done anyways.

sorry but i dont totally understand,
so the wires for the AFM, ignitor etc are the same just the plugs are different,
so i can just put the plugs for the AFM, ignitor etc from the new loom onto the existing wires and it will work on the gen 3 ecu and connect the rest of the new loom to the motor and it will work? is this right?

If you are going for an aftermarket ecu, then you will probably be using a MAP sensor instead of AFM and individual coil packs instead of the ignitor. The only thing I can think of that may give you some greif would be the throttle position sensor.

why would the throttle position sensor be a problem?
i cant afford an aftermarket comp yet so just want to get it running on the standard ecu, so can i do what i said above and it will work???
