Does anybody know of someone who has put a 2jz into a mx83 Cressida? If not, is it possible? Is it as easy as putting the 1jz into it? Or would I kill myself if I did it?

Its definetly doable, its NOT going to be as easy as getting a JZX81 front cut (if you can find one) and swapping it over, because they are basically the same chassis as an MX83.

mr beach, i just recently asked a jap importer the prices on 1/2 cuts.
1jz was $2500 for an auto and
2jz was over $8000 for auto.
7m was $2000 for auto.
hope this helps in your decision

$8000 for a 2j?!..shit.....i saw in a hot4's a few months back a place in queensland that did the 2j half cut for around $5000...I want to put the 2j in just coz it will kill anything on the roads but im leaning more to just getting the chaser front cut. It's gonna be my little project for the next 6 months or so. Has anyone on this site put a 2j into a cressida that you know of? Is it like putting a 1j into it (the engine bit is easy but the electrics are a shit) or is the whole job hard?
Thanks for your help

Physically installing a 2JZ should be no different to installing a 1JZ, provided you get one with the correct sump to match your crossmember. From memory an MX83 will need a front-sump engine. You may also need 1JZ engine mounts as the 2JZ ones I have are a bit different, but they shouldb't be hard to source from an importer (or even new from Toyota if you have to).
Note that the Supra 2JZ has a mid-sump, while the Aristo 2JZ has a front-sump. That's good news for you because Supra engines tend to cost a lot more simply because they're from a Supra - the Aristo engine is exactly the same though! I think that explains the $8k figure quoted above; I wouldn't mind betting that's a Supra front cut. By contrast, I picked up an Aristo front cut for around $3k.

i think jayzee has a jzx81 crossmember spare i'd sugest buying this asap 1j and 2j have the same mounts (guyz correct me if i'm wrong here i'm going off gathered info) and yeah get yourself the aristo half cut and yeah...the jzx81 chaser convo is the best to carry out though everything just goes straight in i was so amazed...even the intercooler piping bolts just bolted straight in it was all great!!!!!!
