Supercharging Q's Sat, 19 February 2005 05:56 Go to next message
hey guys, im currently supercharging a 4K and was wondering what other people have done about the ABV and ACV when using a SC12 without the computer?

I was planing to control the SC by a switch, would i be able to wire in the VSV so that the ABV is open when the SC is off and vise versa.

What do I do about the ACV and the ventilation pipes?

Thanks

from what i undertand the sc12 uses a magnetic clutch so to turn it on all you have to do is hook up a switch to the clutch that would turn it on or off

the abv only bleeds boost it dosent turn the supercharger on or off. In any event the abv can be bypassed.
the abv isnt open until the boost passes 8.25 psi from memory

http://www.mr2sc.com/websites/tech/tccs.htm

This page has VERY detrailed explanations about under what conditions the ACV/ABV are turned on

Right down the bottom, tis a good read Smile

the prob that i have is that when the supercharger is off the air flow is severly restricted that is what the ABV does (Air Bypass Valve)the air is directed around the SC, the ACV is used to control the pressure that the oil in the supercharger is under because under high pressure the oil would be forced out, the ACV through the VCV prevents this. I need to work out how to control these without the computer.

I believe that my plan to have the ABV and the sc controled alternatly by a single switch will work i just wanted to make sure, I dont know what to do about the ACV, possibly just hook the lines up so that the pressure is equal.
