Would there be much power difference between that of the 18r engine and the 22r engine....also would the 22r be a straight fit for a 79 hilux. what price would i expect to pay for a 22r engine.

22r is 2.4L and the 18r is 2L, the motor will bolt into the gearbox but sump and mounts might not be suitaable

The 18R revs much more freely, and feels like it has more top end go than the 22R.

Even thought the 22R has next to no HP advantage over the 18R, the 22R's extra torque will make for a faster car.

I swapped my 18R for a 21R.
The 18R was more fun to drive, but im pretty sure the car is quicker with the 21R.

The engine and gearbox mounts should be the same, but you might need a different sump.
