Can anyone tell me, with 1JZ-GTE motors, if they are retrofitted into a car that is old enough not to have EFI will they run using their original loom as might come with a halfcut or is there more work needed besides supplying power and fuel for them to run correctly?

Power and fuel.

Its just a fair bit more effort to set up the electrics and the fuel system on an old carby car.

You need to do surge tanks, or convert the tank to EFI.

And with the electrics, you will need to setup a fusebox system.

If you have a halfcut, use the box from the halfcut.

Thanks CrUZida, thats pretty much as I had expected, just needed someone to give me their thoughts on the topic. Still leaning towards an MX83 1JZ conversion but want to keep my options open for other possibilities.

To run a 1JZGTE in another car there are only 7 wires to connect to make it run. The rest are connected to the 1JZ computer. You may have to add a few relays and fuses to control the power to the ECU and the fuel pump system.

Biggest problem would be the fuel system. You will need to fit a return fuel line.

Other than that there is little problems in fitting it to almost anything.

Cressi's are great for quiet ,comfort etc but for performance without spending on mods......
Cressida is approx 1500kg and a standard EH is approx 1000kg
Comfort or Speed? Quiet or Noise? Windows up or down?
So many choices.I like both for different reasons.Cheers.Pete.
