How Much!? RA23

G'day all!
I'm thinking of selling my RA23 as i now have 3 cars and one of them has got to go.
Details of all pros & cons in no particlur order:
Exterior/Motor
Motor = 2L with twim cam head, twin solex carbs and other mods such as electric dizzy, electric fuel pump mounted in boot with cut out switch mounted to dash.
body has been resprayed i guess about 3-4 years ago (a bit darker than sky blue)and still looks impressive. Has small amounts of rust/body work in the usual areas i.e. rear of sills etc. Front bumper is slightly bent. Otherwise OK.
Have just spent $1,300 on suspension including new struts, rear shockies and new bushes all round.
Fitted with sunroof but is either on or off as latch is broken but comes with another (see spares).
Interior
Fitted a brand spanker $500 Sparco fixed back sports seat to drivers side in Sep-2002, along with new Autotechnica steering wheel.
Door panels & rear seat have been retrimmed black with grey stripe,i guess also about 3-4 years ago.
Roof lining retrimmed in black vinyl and has no tears.
Usual cracked dash, centre console missing, alpine stereo (radio/cassette) but is nowhere near 'doof doof' status.
Heater unit has been removed to add 1 or 2 HP but have all parts if you need/want to reinstall.
Spares
Comes with a poo load of spares, including 2 twin-cam heads, one of which is a Yamaha (unleaded), the other has been polished and ported and has valves the size of my fist. Various cams and engine components etc. A large box full of stuff incl head and tail lights, frames to match, electrical/dash components such as blinker switches, tachos, fuel gauges etc. Spare (untorn) rear seats and front seats. spare window winder mechanisms, seatbelts etc. Also have original interior trims in that beautiful yellow/brown combination, plus various other original trims in black, brown and yellow. Spare sunroof (new-old) that is slightly larger than the fitted one or i would have replaced it by now
Other Info
The engine was reconditioned about 2 years ago. The head was strengthened to handle unleaded, but i have found the best combination to be a tank of super with a bottle of octane added at each refill. i have used this combination for the last 12 months.
rego runs out 6/12/2002. in my opinion no work will need to be done to pass a pink slip test.
the car is comprehensively insured by NRMA who insured it at market value of $4,700, which i think was a little steep.
That's about all i can think of!
i will accept any offer near $2750, but will go lower if i know it's going to a good home. Any expressions of intersted will be regarded.
Cheers!

Word.. if this was the same time last year i would have bought it straight up. i ended up buying my stock ra28 18Rc for 1800 and spending 900 on suspension. so i easily/for sure would have bought yours to save time on the engine swap.
I think thats a reasonable price, but i guess id have to check it out.. but by the sounds of it u shouldnt have too much trouble selling.

It sound's like a good car, should have no problems selling that. There are people around that will pay money for a tidy car like this. Pity I already own 3 RA23's and an RA40.
Good Luck

by the way! forgot to mention a new 2-inch system was fitted in march from the extractors back to the noisy end.
yes! i will sell the parts separately if i have to, but would prefer to sell everything (incl the car) as a job lot, just to make some room in the shed.
anyone got an offer!
cheers!

sorry! no pics yet, but will work on that in next couple of days.
engine is 18rg. has given me no trouble to date so i have pretty much left it alone (don't fix it if it aint broke!)
there is a bit of a flat spot in the carbies which can cause occasional backfiring when motor is cold, easily overcome by harder accleration ha ha!
rust is minimal for age. rear of sills, one small spot on front of bonnet, small paint blister on boot lid and a couple on the roof. drivers door has one or two small holes, passenger door is fine as far as i can remember, but will check it tomorrow.
half-arsed attempts have been made to bog most of the badder areas, and the paint is lighter here than the rest of the car.
overall the car would pass the fridge magnet test except for the few areas mentioned.
will try to have pics up by tuesday or wednesday. i will include closeups of all effected areas if i can.
cheers!

mate i paid $2000 for the car with no rego and have spent:
$1300 - suspension
$ 200 - exhaust
$ 200 - steering wheel and boss kit
$ 500 - sparco sports seat incl professional installation
thats $4200 in total!
you can appreciate that i am reluctant to drop the price by much.
i think its an honest car for an honest price.
but hey make an offer if you like and i'll think about it.
cheers!

yeah mate the body needs some work but i wouldn't say heaps.
the dash is nothing special which i think i've mentioned before, but otherwise the interior isn't that bad!
the rear seat is covered in the same trim as the door trims, and apart from being a little grotty is otherwise okay!
the passenger seat is stock and from memory has no tears (i'll take off the seat cover and confirm this tomorrow).
spare back seat and passenger seat are also in good nick.
mate make an offer if you've got a figure in mind and we can go from there!

Gee the body does not look that bad to me, pretty straight...
You can never get stuff in perfect condition unless you pay for it, or get a special deal etc....

yeah i reckon the body's pretty good considering the car has never undergone a serious rebuild.
like you said, you're going to pay if you want a completely rustless TA/RA model. a little rust here and there is pretty much standard in any RA thats priced under 3 grand, unless you're very lucky!
hey freaky! what about sunday? still keen to have a look?

mate the engine's good.
doesn't use oil, doesn't use water!
you won't need to do anything to engine as it runs great!
if you wan't to do any car up to showroom condition you'll be needing to do a complete respray any way, so i wouldn't worry about the engine bay colour. all you really need to worry about if that's your intention is the body, as a complete rebuild generally entails a complete overhaul of the whole car, inside and out!
in the meantime the car should give you no worries at all as long as you treat it with a bit of respect.
oh! have forgotten to mention previously two things which you would probably want to know:
1. currently there is no horn connected up! but among the spares there is a brand new set of air horns that's waiting to go on.
easy job to fit if you know what you're doing.
2. clutch bearing is on the way out and will nedd to be replaced probably within next 6-12 months.
i have decided to allow for this in the price as i should have mentioned this before.
NEW PRICE = $2500. BARGAIN!
cheers!

sorry mate, no!
none of the interior shots worked out.
i'll have another go if you like, but i'm only using throwaway cameras, so i can't make any promises about the quality.
btw: i took off the seat cover on the passenger seatand it is pretty torn. the back part is okay though. remember i do have a spare, so this shouldn't be too much of an issue for any prospective purchaser. although i do apologise if i mislead anyone regarding this.
