7MGE rebuild Tue, 22 February 2005 05:15 Go to next message
Ok, i know that people say that there is no way of getting more power out of a 7MGE. But this what i have to ask. With a full rebuild (better internals) i am wondering if i could achieve around the 180kw and around 220kw with nitrous oxide.

Another question is if it is posible to move the power curve of the 7MGE to a lower rpm range. IE it makes power now at about 3800rpm would it be posible to get it down to around the 2800 mark for more low end torque

regards
phil

Have a look around for some of ed_ma61's work Smile
(a few other people have talked about warming up 7mge's as well which a search might turn up, but most people decide not to follow through with the idea....)

Anything is possible, but it would prbly be cheaper and easier to just put a 2jz-ge in Smile

Bear in mind to move the power band like that you'll need some interesting cams, which I'm not even sure are available...and if they are I suspect they will cost a fortune Smile

Cheers

Ok, after research i find that 2JZ-GE are not that expensive at all compared to the 2JZ-GTE. A few questions for people can the 6 speed box bolt up to the GE. My current 7MGE is rated at 220Nm torque and the 2JZ-GE is rated at almost 300Nm.... is this correct?

Are internals of 2JZ-GE strong enough to have turbo?

Yep, 2jz-ge's are quite resonably priced I think!

The V160 6 speed (as found behind the 2jz-gte) would fit up, but have you priced one? They are ludicrously expensive! ($2500-$3000 +!)

Ad for power/torque this is what I dragged up...

JZA80 (2jzge)
Maximum power 165kW @ 6000rpm
Maximum torque 284Nm @ 4800rpm

MA70 (7mge)
Maximum power 143kW @ 5800rpm
Maximum torque 250Nm @ 4800rpm

250Nm vs 284Nm. Smile

Many ppl in the US turbo the 2jz-ge, do a search on some yank supra sites Smile

ok, what i have found out now

2JZ-GE half cut is about 3000 bucks and internals can handle up to about 600hp. Smile (Means Turbo Later)... like 8000 bucks for 2JZ-GTE half cut Sad

7MGE with uber rebuild going to cost me like 5000 bucks Sad

Anyone who has done the Ma70 2JZ-GE conversions i would apreciate opinions on what where hard points and how the engine feels and performs in the MA70.

If i am wrong on figures or techs please correct

to get power out of a 2JZGE, its going to take flow and revs.
both of which arent particularly cheap. sure, the engines are strong, but how well do they take to largeish revs on stock bottom ends.
it will still require money spent, no matter which engine you choose.

A conversion to a stock 2jz-ge would work out almost the same cost as a hot 7mge rebuild....and the 2jz-ge has more potential, and can handle a turbo later Smile I think its a good stepping stone Smile
