AE-82 4A-LC to 4AGE Wed, 23 February 2005 05:38 Go to next message
I have just started on this conversion. I am documenting the entire process so that when I am finished I will have a website showing all the ins and outs (as I cannot find anything of the sort!).

My question is, does anybody know if the Drive shafts are a different length between the 4A-LC and the 4AGE (AE-82, CSX). I need to know if I can put my drive shafts, CV's and Boots straight onto the 4AGE as the ones I got with it are stuffed.
Also is the brake booster different between the CSX and the CSX twin cam? (I know the back brakes are but not sure if I need to change the booster).

Thanks
Dale Wilson

are you seriously telling me you could not find any info on this swap???

dude do a search on here for 4ac to 4age conversion you will find HUGE amounts of info.

the booster/master cylinder is diff, the bias is diff for discs compared to drums

i have also never heard of a 4A-LC only a 4A-C.

what car are you putting the engine into? a AE82?

the driveshafts depend on the gearbox, not the engine. i've used a 4AC gearbox on a 100kw 4AGE engine with no worries.

if you look at the plates on the firewall and if it is a 4ac motor it has 4alc or 4acl.

yeah on the engine side everything just bolts in, but there is the loom that needs to be replaced, the PS and AC needs to be re-piped, the brakes and booster need to be upgraded (not essential, but if you want it done right). So yes it is a straigt conversion as the same car came out with both motors, but there is alot of little differences that need to be changing, if you want it done right.
