KE70 using oil. Causes? Fixes?

Hey all,
My GF's car is using oil. There are no drips on the driveway, so my guess it's being burnt and expelled out the exhaust pipe.
What's causing this and how do we fix it?
I think it's the rings, but has anyone else had this problem?
Also, it's not a heap of oil being used... just enough for me to notice when i service it.
The engine has done 240000k's.

change the rings and valve seals and guides but if you want a quick fix you could just pour in some oil stabilizer to thicken up the oil since the leak is only minor

you could try pennzoil or morey's the usually do the job. i'm guessing your girlfriend is not a go fast person so the tad bit of sluggishness from the thicker viscosity wouldnt bother her much. but there is a tendency for the pennzoil to overthicken your oil when cold so the oil rpessure is a tad bit high when your still not at running temp

Thanks for the input fellas,
Her only complaint is "the car doesn't go up hills." haha
I put Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 in it, just because this oil claims "better start up protection" more than anything else. Seeing it's just her daily commuter car, i thought this was justified...
Might try some "stop smoke"... usually i don't, because usually little things in bottles are just a wank ( i believe in good maintainence, good fuel and good oil). But because this isn't my car, i might just shove some in and see what happens.
Thanks again!
