I'm 43. Feel 63.

I'm his dad, so you better be nice to my boy.
Sorry about the pot son, but it was the only vegetable matter we had at the time. I feel a tad bad that we lied to you and said it was organic lettuce, but hey, you always seemed to enjoy the stuff.
Also, sorry about the acid and all those other wierd things we gave you. However, it did make the home-made ice-cream taste better and you always seemed to have that "far-away" look in your eyes after a big meal!
Still, life wasn't easy, bringing up a family of hippies, all living in a Kombi, as we roamed the countryside.
In any event, you certainly got to see and hear some great 70's bands and music!

I'm reading 'Scar Tissue' at the moment - the biography of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Keidis.... What a wonderful insight into those times (70's). Now whenever he talks about a new experience in the 70's I think of you guys, Greg and River! Damn you guys must have had a ball...
Anyways, I'm 25.

My recollections of the 70's are all a bit misty.
A matchbox full of pot was $2. An ounce was like $20. Sticks actually had bits of Thai heads which had been soaked in hash oil wound onto a stick.
Us Westys would travel to Cronulla just to blue the waxheads.
You only wore Levis or Amcos (maybe Lee jeans sometimes). Desert boots. Miller Western shirts.
Dances at the YMCA would always end up in a blue at the end of the night, or if the band was crap, during the dance. (Once saw AC/DC play at the Greenacre YMCA before they were huge. Bon jumped off stage and belted a bloke who was giving him shit.)
Old Holdens were the choice of car to drive.
Kwaka 9's were the bike of choice. (who could afford a Harley?)
You could get into the Chullora Drive-In by jumping the fence and ya could sit on the verandah to watch the films.
You could get into Castlereagh Drags by jumping a fence as well. You could stand right behind the cars in the starting line. I can still feel my eyes burn from the Nitro from a young Jim Reed and Graeme Cowin Top Fueller.
I nearly got killed there one day when the American Autos Dragster was trialling quad turbos. On their first burnout one of the turbos blew and the little impeller? thingy came shooting out sideways missing my head by literally inches. It hit the bootlid of a GTR Torana and ripped a hole into it a foot long before rocketing off into the scrub somewhere.
Ahh, those were the days.
Cheers, Greg.
