heyas,
i stupidly left the door of my car open yesterday and havent touched it till now, but find that my car wont start. my capacitor is showing only 8.2V. i got my friend to come down and jump start it but no luck, it still sounds like the battery is just outta juice. maybe its the starter motor?
any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks
dave

You mean your battery?
If so then you must have dropped a cell or two... it "may" work again if you top up your battery with distilled water and charge it with a float charger.
Probably easier just to toss it and buy a new one.

I'd say its his capacitor for his stereo with a digital readout.
Leave his car connected to yours, and running at about 2500rpm for about 5mins.
I'd had instances where a car battery was too flat to start even with a jump.

If its the voltage readout on a 1F or similar cap for your amp then:
1. Don't believe it entirely... those displays are 99% bling 1% function.
2. You might have a bad earth strap / terminal.
Grab your multimeter and check the resistance between the body of the car and the -ve terminal of your battery... if you get anything much above 0.001ohms you've got a problem.

mm my distribution block is showing the same value as the capacitor
i dont have a multimeter so i might just wait and give it another go with the jumpers

it was said if a battery is fully flat then it prob wont start at all.
you can charge it like you did, but be aware that if a battery is fully flat your alternator wont charge it because they the battery to have a small ammount of power to charge them.
