okay there must be some ppl in this forum who knows a lot about sound systems as they do about cars... (u guys know a lot about cars!)
the question i wanna ask is, is there a general colour for sub out wiring??
also does anyone have the specs for an alpine MRV-F250 amp??
(i noe i noe, such old stuff, but i can't be bothered buying new stuff)
and can that amp be bridged, like only 2 channels and leave the other 2 running to other speakers...
all of this leads to the main big question of what is a decent sub to get price wise and quality (ive heard cadence are pretty good)
Thanking u guys in advance, u haven't let me down yet! (not that im expecting to be let down now )

Pick a colour, any colour
As long as it can handle the power.

Google is your friend. Have you tried the Alpine site ?

If its a four channel i can't see why it can't be ran as a three channel

I'd say the best thing to do would be to do some "window shopping" at the car audio shops and listen with your ears and ask questions.

make sure the amp is bridgeable, research taht one, i cant be stuffed You can bridge it into 2 channels no worries, but if you wanna run subs and speakers, i recommend you get a second amp. When u bridge you double the power going through the channel, so you wont be able to use the other 2 remaining channels. I think you use (+) from the 1st channel, (-) from 2nd channel, (+) from 3rd and (-) from the 4th channel...

give these forums a shot as they are entirely audio based and you may find someone who has owned that amp or knows what its capable of.
you should also be able to get advice on subs there aswell

you can only bridge the amp if it is 2ohm stable. assuming SVC 4ohm sub.

Yeah but unless you just bridge, urm, say channel 3 and 4 to run a sub then your left with channels 1 and 2.

cadence, rockford fosgate, MTX (the more expensive stuff), fusion, basically, the more expensive the better...
if you want cheap but good stuff... pioneer or JVC would be my choice, quality is still good, but it has dropped since they started making stuff in china, same with JVC...
i wouldnt go kenwood, or any of the no name brands, as their products suck teh big 0ne, again, this is just my opinion..
although my choice would be Yamaha, but thats just because im in love with the brand
hope this helps ,

i've got 2 JL 12wo's that i'm quite happy with as they go quite well with rock/hip hop/druma and bass. i actually bought them 2nd hand for $250 through a mate who is assistant state rep off CAA who's link i posted before.
from what i've heard they have been one of the longest running range of subs which has got to say something about them.
my best advice is jump into different cars and listen to the products out there. other than that see what people with experience have to say and obviosly the more you spend the better quality you get.
I spent a bit on my audio gear as i always held the idea that when i sell a car i would take it out and put in my next car.

I've got a pair of JL 10wo's - I got mine 2nd hand for $250 too ! ! - I got a ported box and an amp in that price though
I can TOTALLY recommend a pair of 10's over a single 12. Louder, tighter, as well as giving you wiring options to run a choice of resistance loads.
I searched for your amp's model code, came up with some of this:
To run a pair of 12" subs - "I have an Alpine MRV-F250 that would power those well. Stable at 2ohms and 375watts"
Another guy sez "My MRV-F250 is only rated at 4x25w and you'd be surprised at how loud it gets while staying clean." -That's running mids and tweeters though.
For Sale:
Alpine MRV-F250 V12
300W
4/3/2 channel amp
40watts RMS per channel
2x Rca in, 1x out
had running 2 x 12" subs
-From all that, I'd suggest that you run two pair of splits from that amp, and get a big-arsed bridgeable 2-channel amp for teh massif, hektic sub(s).
Assuming you're on a super-tight budget, run a pair of 10" subs off the alpine amp (bridged to 2 channels), and your full-range speakers off the head unit, till you can afford an amp for the subs. Then switch the MRV-F250 over to the full-range speakers.
I don't think you'll run a 12" sub too well off that amp, nor do I imagine you'd be happy with what a single 10" would put out. And yes, You can bridge to 3 channels to run 1 sub and 2 speakers, or to 2 channels and run 2 subs.
That's all I've got for ya buddy. Happy doofing

thx for that... so much resarch, i tried google and it didn't give me much bout them, hmm must not be looking hard enough.
ive got some sound system, but its just not loud enough, i want my ears to blow up jk jk hehe, but i have a head unit wif like some rca outputs yeah, and one of the outputs has purple wiring (what i was asking before) and i plugged my other speakers into them and they still outputted sound, are these sub outs or just something else??
umm really dumb question but ill ask it anyways cause im so noob, umm running stuff off the head unit is out of the other wires and not the rca's?? (i don't noe much... )
thanks again... man this forum is cool...

purple/white is normally the sound used for sub output.
if u want a good sub amp but a jaycar 150watt by 2 and bridge it. it will run 2 low spec 12 no woories use the alpine 250 to run your 4 channels. i recomend mtx and jvc low end subs because they have good sensitivity compared to some of the the higher spec gear which needs 500 rms to go loud. p[s i have 2 vdo 8 inch 3 way 2 clarion splits running of a jaycar four channel and 2 jvc 12 running of a jaycar 150 watt amp and have got 142.3db in a comp.
