Delco info and 3T-GTEU Fri, 25 February 2005 00:09 Go to next message
Hi,

I'm considering changing from Wolf3D to Delco (Kalmaker) on my 3T-GTEU. Apparently this has been done in the past successfully by a guy called Richard Wakeling?

Any info on finding this dude or comments on the conversion with this engine would be welcome. Current setup is making good power but I want some extra features the Delco can provide which the Wolf does not (version 3, old style).

Cheers,
(the other) Bill Sherwood

I believe Richard is the guy that tuned SupraPete's car.

PM him, or send him an email regarding it.

It might have been Petes brothers car with that 3TGTE

Delco is everything, but cheap.

yep was pete's brother's KE20 with the delco. Toobs recently had it and just offloaded it.

I think there are other engine management systems out there which will do the same if not better job. Even microtechs have some damn good features these days, and the other's arent that much more expensive...

I've tried to tune with KAlmaker and not had much joy.

I then switched to MegaSquirt and had HEAPS of success...I wouldn't buy anything different again.

http://www.megasquirt.info/

Don't be fooled by the DIY nature...it's all open source so people are developing new code all the time.

And you can order pre-built ones from a guy in the US.

Cheap and VERY effective.

PM me if you want more info.

Matt

Witzl,

Once the software is paid for the cost of other conversions comes down to a small amount for the necessary chip... so it doesn't get much cheaper than this I think (my sons are itching to do the Delco thing with their cars too).

The main reason for Kalmaker/Delco apart from the above is to get access to the self-learning, 'gate control, water inj control and a bunch of other stuff including knock retard, etc,. What else can do this?

I did look into the Megasquirt and it is a close second but involves a lot of work for each car. Maybe if the Delco falls through I'll look deeper into MS.

Thanks for the input anyway.

Bill

Richard doesn't use the Kalmaker - he developed his own eprom re-writing software.

A link to his website is available through SupraPetes site (linked to his signature).

Hi The Other Bill S.

Surprise time again - I have a Delco right here, with a setup for a 3TGTE.
I'd be happy to sell it for not a lot of money if you're interested.
