Battlestar Galactica - New Series v Old Series

For those of you old enough to have watched the first, original BG series, with the campy Starbuck (later to appear in The A-Team TV series) (Now - that's a good thread starter - anyone ?) and Apollo, and its mixed Greek and Roman and Sci-Fi mythologies, how do you rate the new 'gritter' series ?
Frankly I miss the 'scream' the old Cylon fighters made in space and the way they said 'By your command' to their Boss Hogg style human overloads.....
Silent Cylon robots don't creep me out enough to make them credible, but hot blondes with legs forever keep my remote control finger from twitching !

I can easily say that I like the new series. Though I haven't seen the older series, there's a 99.9% chance that I'd still like the newer over the older series.
As remakes go, most modern remakes have been complete utter pices of shite, so I'm happy to see this one delivers it's good.
Then again, I got a friend of mine to start downloading me the original series for me to watch. So hopefully within a couple weeks I can compare the 2 series.
That's my 2c.

Hi,
New series is okay. I don't like the female Starbuck - she's a dog and has a bad attitude. If I was the CAG I'd bitch slap the moll into the next millenium.
Don't like the blonde Cylon chick. She looks dumb, no matter how hot her body is.
Boomer is hot! So's that dark number that always has a headset on.
I'm amused by the fact that these dudes have FTL vessels, yet they have analog clocks, bulky phone-handsets, whiteboards and little dot-matrix like paper print-outs.
I too miss the Cylon sounds and their "By your command". They used to have such cool voices.
Still, I like sci-fi and all that kinda stuff.

I'll watch the new series just so that i can bitch about it. Its funny in a way that the producers have put polical correctness into it but.
I'm kind of hanging out to see what ol' muffit looks like...

I was a big fan of the original BSG, and the best bit was the sound effects. In the new one, they have tried to make it a little more realistic and keep with the "no atmosphere no noise" thing, hence it gets a thumbs down from me - compared to the original that is. On the whole though, it is one of the few things on TV that I enjoy watching. I just want more pow pow shoot em up scenes. Who cares about "relationships" and toasters with nice figures. If I wanted to see that, I would tune into any of the other trashy American series.

I agree, if we don't start whipping some Cylon butt, I'm switching off from this....it's one thing to run away, but we have to stop those mongrels chasing us as well....And so say us.

Hi,
Well, if Galactica had a couple of 18RG engines for power plants the Cylons will never catch them.
Did you notice that they're always playing cards - for money! WTF does the cash come from? I don't think the Galactica has an onboard mint. Also, each week it gets blasted and damaged, yet by the next episode everyhting is repaired. And, despite losing a few fighters per week they seem to have plenty.
I think that Starbuck chick is a dog and she'd smell.
ALso, I'm disappointed that Gold28 doesn't like seeing the relationships and just wants to see battles. Is there no depth to your shallowness?

Have noticed that. I think its called "social time" i'd say they've got it because the mighty warriors are only human...

Yeah a bit like the episode where they lost all their water. In the next episode they had the water tanks repaired and all the tanks full. In the old series if something got damaged it stayed damaged.

I wouldn't say no to humping that Starbuck chick and the Boomer chick as well. Even if they do smell of wet dog.

I'm curious to konw, is the new series just a remake of the old series, or is it a follow on 40 years after the cylons lost?
