How wide rims on ta22? Fri, 25 February 2005 18:56 Go to next message
Hi

How wide rims can i put on my ta22?

i was hoping to get my 14inch cressida wheels welded and widened, but as i started to measure how much i can extend them, i got very unsure.

from the wheel center and out, i was hoping to add an extra 3 inches, wich will make them a total width of 8,5inches, But when im starting to measure this to see how it will be, it seems like its too much. I have looked at other cars on the gallery here, and many cars has very wide rims, at least it seems like that. anyone know how much i can add to my rims from the center and out, and still avoid the wheels and rims to stick out of the fender/body? i want them to be just inside of the fender.

the front wheels i think i will just play it safe with 6,5inches.

thanks for ur answers Very Happy

measure the distance froim the hub/drum face mount to the inner of the guard\quarter and thats the total length you can have.

with the measurement then measure the rim from the face mount to the outer part and then you can decipher how much you can widen it by

Hi Ben, 15 or 16 inch wheels(17" wheels on a TA22 look odd) 6.5 inches max at the front, otherwise you start to run into tooo many problems. I tried 7" on the front of a TA22, could not get fulll lock on the steering!

Rears about 8 inches wide, but be very wary of tyre choice, and wheel offset.

That being said, I would probably go 6.5" all round, or maybe 6.5" front, and 7.0" rear.

If you go too wide, these cars can become a real bitch to drive in the wet.

Tyre choice, is paramount, as is a properly sorted suspension.

"Bling" does not contribute anything to handling, braking and safety.

regards Chuck.

thanks for ur answers

so 8" should go well on the rear? remember they will build/add from the center and out only, since they will be welded only on the outerside.

6,5" should be ok on the front wheels then? as long as i dont add anything on the indside of the rims, they shouldnt "bump" into anything when i turn over either i hope?
