hey,
Im doing an engine conversion in my ke55 and i have been advised that it would be a good idea to upgrade the diff+brakes. I've researched a bit and want to know about the series 3 bluebird trx diff. will if fit? or are there any mods i need to do to it to make it fit?or are there any other easier/practical diffs to put in? Also i have hilux disks for the front brakes and apparently i need some Peugeot calipers. does any one know what type of peugeot calipers are needed? and are they easy to install? thanks

jap diff and bog warmer are of similar strength. to convert it to KE30 is a waste of time.

S3 bluebird diffs are too wide and need to shortened to fit. Also LSD centres for these are hard to find.
TA22 diffs are the same width as the corolla and are T series. It will need to have the mounts swapped with the corolla ones to fit.
RA23/28 diffs are a little wider than corolla but again will only need the mounts swapped to fit. These are also T series and I have read that the RA28 diff is stronger than the TA22 and RA23. LSD's are available for T series diffs but I have read they can be expensive.
Finally for a bit of overkill you could use an early 2WD hilux diff. These are also a little wider but only require the mounts to be changed. LSD's are easy to get. They take 5 stud wheels though so some modification would be required but if you are doing a brake upgrade you could swap the fronts to 5 stud to match.
All of these options have been discussed on here before so have a bit of a search and you should find most of the info you need.
Basically you could make whatever diff you want fit it all depends on how much you want to spend and what you need.

I think you will find the brake upgrade you are thinking of for the front requires Hilux callipers and Peugot disks

hey,
thanks for all the advice. I would like to get the hilux diff because of the LSD but i have already got 4 stud mags so i dont think that i will get a hilux 1. How expensive would an LSD for the t series diff? As for the brakes, can i use hilux calipers+disks?

im not to sure on the width of a corolla diff but a corona mark2 diff would probably be a suitable option too.
read this thread for further info on diff
LSD's are available for them
click on "articles" in left column of the page Articles
has a write up of front brake conversion although i am not to sure if it will bolt into ure corolla

a hilux diff stud pattern can easily be changed, and would probably be the cheapest option. hilux diffs are available in quite a few different widths, and if u can get one narrow enough to fit a mazda rx3 without cutting it down, i would imagine it will fit a ke55. LSDs r cheap, easy to come by, and u can choose any ratio, from 3.7-5.1 are readily available.
you would of course need to get ke55 mounts welded onto it, and u might need to shop around a bit to find a diff of the right model/width. but u will find it VERY hard to break with a 4 cyl, unless it is very worn out
