34 ADM Weber, flooding from return line Mon, 28 February 2005 08:15 Go to next message
ok, well....i had this problem when i first installed the Weber, the fuel was literally running through the carby and into the head. The fuel bowl was overfilling and it was just running over. I have since installed a 1-way valve type arrangement but it needs quite a bit of pressure to open, and i think this is putting my fuel pressure through the roof. I have a spare fuel pressure regulator from a Holley blue, and would like to know, if i replace my 1-way valve with this, will it stop fuel from coming down the return line?

this is all in a ta22, std 2t motor, with a 34 ADM weber, elec fuel pump. the fuel pump is mounted in the engine bay, then routes to carb inlet. the carb return routes to the 1 way valve, then back to the tank

any help will be appreciated Smile

its not there yet, i want to know, if i replace the 1-way valve thingy i got (meant for water hoses etc) with a regulator, will it prevent fuel from flowing back down the return line into the carb

sigh....

the inlet and outlet (return) of carb are connected. if you have no pressure reg, fuel will just flow out of the carb and not into the fuel bowl (as much).

what you need to do is either:

a) use an internally regulated pump and block the return

b) block the return and put a pressure reg inline with the inlet.

c) put the pressure reg on the return line.

carb will want around 3psi.

the problem is not when the pump is running, the problem is when the pump is turned off. because the fuel tank in the ta22 is mounted quite high, the fuel tends to run back down the return line into the fuel bowl, until it overflows, and starts pouring fuel down the intake, and i dont think thats good, because fuel burns rather well..........

the only way fuel gets into the fuel bowl is thru the float needle. yours must be rooted.

the KE15 tank is mounted high also and i had fuel down throat issues only when the float needle was rooted...
