MX83 'hesitating' at low speeds. Sun, 03 November 2002 09:21 Go to next message
Ok, a friend of mine has an MX83 Cressida and at low speeds (ie, off the lights, or going around corners) he will apply throttle and for a few moments the car does nothing, THEN it applies power no worries.

It's an auto but I guess you could liken it to clutch slip, or something along those lines. It's quite dangerous because if he gives it a little too much throttle then when it finally 'gets the message' the car will spin the wheels. So he has to take off quite slowly to prevent this (most of the time Evil or Very Mad)

Does anyone know what is likely to be causing this???

thanks.

I think it may be worse some times more than others. I didn't ask him how regular it was. He doesn't drive it that hard so it's sometimes difficult to tell if it's doing it or not.

When it does engage it runs fine. No clunks or stuttering or anything like that. Weird Confused

I would suggest either computer (are cressidas EFI, sorry I'm not too familiar with them) Or possibly timmimg may need to be adjusted.

Generally if there are problems with diffs they make awefull noises.
