MX83 'hesitating' at low speeds.

Ok, a friend of mine has an MX83 Cressida and at low speeds (ie, off the lights, or going around corners) he will apply throttle and for a few moments the car does nothing, THEN it applies power no worries.
It's an auto but I guess you could liken it to clutch slip, or something along those lines. It's quite dangerous because if he gives it a little too much throttle then when it finally 'gets the message' the car will spin the wheels. So he has to take off quite slowly to prevent this (most of the time )
Does anyone know what is likely to be causing this???
thanks.

Well if it DID stutter i was going to suggest the Diff...
as i've messed the diff in both of our falcons....
apparently the falcon diffs get messed up if u correct sloppily from being sideways... which i did alot.....couldnt be bothered correcting properly

I would suggest either computer (are cressidas EFI, sorry I'm not too familiar with them) Or possibly timmimg may need to be adjusted.
Generally if there are problems with diffs they make awefull noises.
