86kw have bigger ports... and it uses T-VIS
100kw have oil squirters for the pistons and have a knock sensor...
I guess theres a few other things...

The easiest way is to look at the rocker covers... if the "16 Valve" is red, then its a redtop (100kw) if its blue, its a blue top (86kw)
If the covers are polished like mine... and have no colour count the number of oil ribs on the intake side of the bloke... if theres 7, its a 100kw, if theres 3, its a bigport...
Another way to tell is the 100kw have 8 bolt flywheels, where as the bigports have 6...

Most bigports were 8 bolt as well. Apparently there were some early 6 bolt versions but all the bigports I've seen are 8 bolt.

so how am i supposed to tell the difference then?
i know its a twin cam and the guy is mid 40's so chances are its just the 86kw one but im going 2moro at 1pm, anyone have any definate differences?

doesnt matter what version it is man, if its stock, its written on the plate isnt it?
the reason it doesnt matter is that the difference is barely negligable...
they all rock, just make sure its in good condition (not leaking oil, not blowing smoke (valve stem seals are alot of hassle to replace) and general things like that...

yea mate, well the car passed for rego just yesterday, so i think its fine. Im looking at it on friday and i will take pics of it, and its in fantastic nick, coz i know the owner, and im getting it for cheap cheap. I will post pics 2moro avo and i have lots of future plans for it...

oh by the way, the paint on the roof isnt faded, thats just a protection agent thats worn off, it rubs straight off with a rag. Anywayz i wanted to know wat u guys reckon this car is worth. Imagine it all polished up and it has no rust, 160000km,perfect body and interior, straight panels, paint is very very good. Engine and equipment well kept and 12 mnths rego, seriously, wat would you guys pay 4 it?

from my research, buying any 4AGE is a lucky dip 
there is no "definative" guide, just make sure it has 4 pistons and u should be close enough
