Maybe im missing something here...

2 bolts to remove the strut
2 bolts with split pins

now it should just lift up right>?

I tried belting it a few times - is it somehow connected underneath?

I asked this question a few months ago too. Here's the thread:

I actually had the entire control arm out of the car though... makes it easier to whack it with the hammer.
The arm slots onto a tapered bolt so you need to "shock" it out with a VERY hard whack.
