NEED HELP WITH AUTO BOX 0N 7M Sat, 05 March 2005 05:45 Go to next message
Hi guys,

I`ve got supra 7mgte 1988 and just got engine replaced.

Now after 300kms my box just lost power. I mean it goes in 1st and 2nd but wont go in D or od. Actually it will but only when you let off accelerator pedal. Soon after you give a bit it will shift back to 2nd.

Also if you manage it to keep in D car will slipp after 2000rpm and car just doesnt go.

REVERSE DONT WORK AT ALL. After you engage in R it will start going slowly but doesn`t respond on rpm(acceleration) at all. Just like in N.

My mate tried and he says that goes ok after 5000-6000rpm (it lock`s up only on hi rpm).

All this has happend in about 5 mins time.

I tried to disconect ECS and shift manualy but no goes for reverse and same for D. But only this way I can manage to get O/D engaged but for short ( up untill 2000rpm).

Any suggestions?

mmm, and when I engaged in R u can hear pressure like sound in box somewhere.

Thanx

Can't be sure dude, but when my box went like that and I had it inspected she was fairly badly damaged.

Call Mike at MV autos here in Adelaide 08 8370 0430 for an informed diagnosis-say sean with the crown gave you the number on the toyota forums.

If it is shagged, a box off an import will probably be the cheapest option.

Dave, stop making sensible suggestions. You're making me look like an idiot. (don't blow my cover)

Trust me, I know what I'm doing, I am and Enginear-really I am.

if im not mistaken it sounds like some burnt out clutches or maybe a blown torque converter. I think a full overhall is needed here.

Cheers Andrew
