ViPeR's MA61 Supra
|

 |
Ah where to start...
I recieved the car from Hirogen's dad not too long ago, and oh boy was I exicted.
It got a 5mge conversion sometime in 2004, which I managed to sort out the wiring with. Its got 7m extractors and a decently sized exhaust running the length of the car... 2.5" ?? Its big enough.
The ride is thrilling, 1st gear is short enough for some hefty takeoffs. There is many problems I need to sort out with the supra though. Either wheel bearings, brakes scrubbing, or cv joints binding.. i'll be finding in the next few weeks.
On the cards is a full respray. I'm between either black or BA falcon purple. Everyone says black will look awesome, but I believe the purple will look great.
Anyways, time for some pictures. These were taken just before it was driven to a dyno day up in Surrey Hills....wherever that is

As you can probably see, there is a big rust hole behind the drivers side door, that will be gone soon...
Also I have my rear wheels from my ra60 on the front of the supra. When I got it, the fronts were bald on the inside down to the canvas, so this is only temporary.
The colour is a metallic brown, many people mistake it for black which is sometimes good, brown is easily related to... well... you know.
Cheers,
James

Both colours you have mentioned would look sweet. I'm sort of undecided myself. anyway it will look sweet. I actually don't mind the colour it is now thou. I thought it looked more purple then black but still I like (I must be going colour blind ) na that brown isn't a bad looking coluor

Viper,
Did you fix that dangling O2 Wire next to the transmission, great to see the car photos on the net, you just have to do something about those front tyres

Sounds like an awesome idea. If it does go ahead, I'll need lots of advanced notice as I work some fairly weird hours and getting leave is kinda hard.
Looking forward to that idea actually.

zipties do rock, if there is anything they cannot do, usually gaffer tape can.
If say for example we held a meet up near melbourne (docklands or something??), would Sunday suit most people? Meet around 11:00am, get lunch around midday?

James

Well if that does go ahead, its very possible, but I won't be able to hang around much longer than past maybe 3 or 4. I work overnights Saturday and Sunday
But yeah, Sunday sounds good. Might be able to call a sickie on the Sunday night though, you never know.

hey man - good to see another Mk2 on the forums!
Glad to see people are taking an interest in preserving these cars!
I wouldn't mind seeing it in the Ford Purple if you are gonna go the full respray - it would be nice to see something different!
Cheers

Hehehe, oh baby. That one is my background
Well since March, not a whole lot has changed , I've managed to get another cold, and my new diff... well the LSD isn't quite doing it's job.
I've got decent 5x7" rear speakers now, which sound awesome with a little bit of sub in the boot for low end re-enforcement.
It got new tyres all around a few months back, so now I've gladly got supra wheels all around.
Hopefully soon enough I'll have new springs and shocks as i'm tired of hanging on to the wheel for dear life as i fly around corners
Cheers,
James

just re-reading your thread, if you do it purple, make sure you keep the bumpers and trims black, colour-coded mkIIs look shitty I reckon.

Mr Foetus - Don't you worry your pretty little head about that I had no intention of colour coding the bumpers/door strips/etc.
As for colour coding the ma61 in general, it depends on the colour imho, silver works... and thats about it afaik.

I am fine at the moment, as Yian said, iv just got a light lump on my head from it hitting the window rather quickly.... which has left me with a bastard headache
I'm going to be shopping for a new shell in the next couple of months I think, it's a pitty I had to wreck this one, wasn't half bad, hopefully there are more out there.
However if I don't find a shell, I will eventually part out the car, so i'll keep y'all informed how I go.
Cheers,
