help: 4agze high idle Mon, 07 March 2005 00:57 Go to next message
I almost completed my conversion with 4agze engine in my ae86. But when we try to start it up.. the idling is a problem. When it car is started cold, it idle around 3,500 RPM. Couple of minute later when it full warm up.. it sit at 2,000 RPM.. and doesn't drop anymore. The engine is 92 MAP version and everything is stock except it using a K&N filter.

Have anyone ran into this problem? where and how do i start to troubleshoot for the problem?

thank for your help.

youve got a vacume leak somewhere by the sounds of it... check over all the vacume lines and the intake gaskets

We checked for vacuum leaking, but there none. However i not sure if the vacuum are connect right, we followed this picture here "http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/online_parts_catalog/ 4agzeVacuumHoseInfo.jpg", and i can confirm the MAP hose is connected right because that was the only hose with we marked. If the vacuum are not connected properly, can it cause such a high rev?
thank for the reply.

did you plug up the port on the pipe below the throttle body (which goes into the supercharger) which normally has the idle-up valve connected to it?

you almost certainly have an air leak of some sort on your intake. Check all pipes, connections, gaskets, ports etc... and then adjust the idle screw, and finally check the ISCV.

I have checked for leaks but can't find any. I think it the ISCV playing up... how would i know this is working or not?

edit: We pulled the ISCV apart, and it open 1/4 the way as i can see.
