HOLY SHiii!!! i think i blew my motor

i got home from work today.. came early, coz feeling crook as hell.
then i was idling my car a bit as usual..
then i hear this sizzling sound.. i'm like wtf i just got my radiator repaired not long ago..
then i open the hood.. and i see something i never seen before..
my intercooler was sizzling..
wat have i done to it ? i wasnt even driving extremely crazy.
i dunno wat the problem is.. but in a way i wouldnt be too upset if this motor does end up dieing.. coz then i have to plan new things for this car.
damn was getting my bov fitted this week too.
any ideas?

i dont have a water to air cooler. its a standard one.
it was sizzling due to overheating.
i have discovered i have a little leak somewhere. it must be coming from one of the radiator hoses., it doesnt look like its coming from the main top one. but i've been told there is another one.. but i cant see it.
i know there is also one at the bottom of the radiator.. but the leak isnt anywhere near there.

Your overflow bottle is connected properly isn't it?
And not full to the top?
With all of the heat shields in place I would have thought it would be pretty hard for your intercooler to get water on it from anywhere other than the top radiator hose or radiator cap.

i think i am going to pop her into a toyota dealer to have a look at.. its come to a stage where i dont trust any workshop with this car anymore..
natrads thought i was missing a fan, i had look through the front bar and there it was... i told him and his face went all red.
another very popular toyota specialist among here i took it to.. did some timing belt work and a water pump.. not only was i overcharged, but my car didnt start up the next morning.. called them up.. werent very helpfull at all.
so yeh from now on its going to be all toyota. not saying they are tops but yeh.. if theres one place i should trust its them.

strangely there was no water on it..
there was smoke coming through the fins and shit.

*giggles*
usually known as an "inter-warmer", it is very much like an intercooler, but is poorly positioned for airflow (like many early top-mounts) and as such suffer massive heat soak and act as warmers rather than coolers

Smoke or steam?
If your PCV hose is suitably f'cked it is possible that you have gotten oil on your intercooler and it is now burning off.
Was your temp gauge reading hot?
Normal operating temp on mine is about 45% (just left of the symbol).

yeh it was 3 quarters hot
due to the coolant leak i think.

if your motor had died youd know about it especially from the smoke that would be comming out your echaust if ya fried it.

Dude, i f you're gona take it to toyota i recommend going to Chadstone - i hear great things, and definitely don't take it to brighton-I hear they suck balls and arfe very very dodgey

I can't think of any way there would be smoke inside an intercooler. It sounds more like you have a pinhole leak in your radiator which is leaking out via the intercooler fins, hence the "smoke" (steam) and the hissing noise (sizzling).

i took it to toyota today.. they showed me where the leak was coming from.. they said it was the bypass hose or something.. they showed me the leak and it was pissing out like no tomorrow.
they said they want to replace a few other hoses too which i think is a good idea.
