Not strange, just mis-understood.
I always freak everyone out when we play the CD game Guess the Song and Artist or whatever it is called and every time the 80's come up I guess the song within 2 seconds.
It was a great time with some classic songs...
Man Overboard - Do RE Mi
Cry in Shame - Johnny Diesel
Respectable - Mel and Kim
Funky Town (cover) by Pseudo Echo
Spandau Ballet
OZ Crawl

omg the keyboards in that are SOOOOOOOO ghey. The keyboardist must be the gheyest ghey that ever gheyed a ghey. Totally ruined the potential of the song.

Is anyone going to go see The Violent Femmes this month?
And damn you ra23celica now I have Mel & Kim in my head
For anyone who doubts the gheyness of 80s music I have one word for you.... Bros

I would like to dedicate this next song to Indi.....
Take or leave us
only please believe us
We ain't ever gonna be respectable.
It's our occupation
we're a dancing nation
we keep the pressure on every nigh
Explanations are complications
we don't need to know the where or why.
Taking chances
bold advances
don't care if you think we're out of line.
Conversation is interrogation
get out of here
we just don't have the time.
Take or leave us
only please believe us
We ain't ever gonna be respectable.
Like us
hate us
but you'll never change us
We ain't ever gonna be respectable.
Hesitation is just frustration
give us the music and we're all right.
On each occasion
for your information
we can look after ourselves all right.
Take or leave us
only please believe us
. . .
Fascination is our sensation
we like to put ourselves on the line.
Recreation is our destination
so don't wait up for us tonight.
Take or leave us
only please believe us
. . .
Take or leave us
only please believe us
. . .

Hi,
Yeah, some good old tracks in there. Some shite also... but you gotta expect some grisel with the meat.
What about... America (Sister Golden Hair, Horse With No Name) and also some Fisher-Z (Love Will Tear Us Apart)... John Young (Common People)... Simple Minds (I Promised You a Miracle)...Cyndi Lauper (Time AFter Time, Money)... Prince (1999, Little Red Corvette)... Pretenders (Chain Gang, Tradition Of Love)... Fleetweeod Mac (Tusk, Tell Me Lies)... Concrete Blonde (Joey)
Ahhh crikey, there's heaps more but they only come slowly to my memory.

Yep, I'm an '80's child too.
There's a reason that I've played GTA:Vice city through so many times. The music. If you want a sample of the best 80's music, play that game. So many times I'd ditch the cop car for anything else so I could listen to the music.
IMO music was only good until the mid 90's. Then something happened..... Hip-hop teeny boppers I think.

Also don't see ABC - Poison arrow. Great karaoke.
"Who broke my heart, you did, you did
Bow to the target, cupid, cupid
you think you're smart, stupid, stupid
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart....."
And the lack of Kraftwerk disappoints me (although they weren't new wave were they).....
