When I do a hard brake, previously my rear brakes lock up before the front, is that normal or is there something wrong?
Also I noticed after fitting King Spring Standards and Pedders Comfortgas all around 12 months ago (give or take a few days). I noticed when I jacked up the back of the car to check to see if I cracked the rear rotors that I have been bottoming out at the back as the bumpstops have left an impression (no black paint where there has been contact) on the swing arms, Is that normal or do I need to replace the shockers again?...

Ideally the front brakes should lock up just before the rears. If the rears are locking up you have a problem with your brakes or suspension.
It's normal for the bump stops to occasionally touch the control arms. All the control arms I've looked at (at least 4 sets now) have had a mark like you describe. As long as it doesn't happen mid corner ( and you'll know ALL about it if that happens) it's all good.

if you go to an RDA dealer, RDA will slot them for you. takes 1-2 weeks to get your hands on them (unless you live in melb), but that's what I got. the extra price over standard rear rotors was SFA afaik

If you really want those slotted rears, theres an RDA dealer around the corner from my house. They are the ones that are the distributor of EBC pads around Melbourne  Trade price again?? hehehe

It's near you place Yian yeah? Looks like I have to get a quote for EBC Black Stuff rear and those RDA Slotted Discs when I am next free (say October or so)...
Also mum's car is due for a pad change so I might be contacting you in the near future

Rear slotted rotors should be on the DBA parts catalog, well they are on mine. Part #717 fronts #146

me and yian where talking about it once... and i agree y do u need different disks for i think they are heaps big enough for the car just pads make hte difference and i agree, havign new aftermarket pads makes a huge diffrence..

Will do. I'm turning into the spare parts specialist around these area 
And yes, most cases decent pads makes all the difference. Hence me and Tim both are using EBC greenstuff. Slotted rotors are just to reduce the brake fade associated with lots of hard braking.
What pads are you using Nick?

i've got 225 eagers on my MA61 and they're okay... shit in the wet and grip is alright.
i've got old, shitty waaay-too-bald 245 yokohamas on buffy, and with my 7m it is stupid in the wet, dangerous.
ive swapped the eagers onto buffy for the RWC, and they seem to light up fairly easy as well...
however, it is time for new tyres. i don't want eagers again, and i cannot afford my simmons/bbs rims yet.
im thinking sumitomo or yokohama A509s for the 7m car, probably in 245 size (don't want too much sidewall flex, am i unwise going larger than 225?)
how have people found the sumitomo and yokohama? im tempted by the sumitomo cause they have whitewall lettering.... which looks tough on the ma61. imo.

I don't know if Yokohama have any A509 tread left in that profile in Australia as they stopped making them 2 years ago  They were replaced by A539 and now "C" Tread 
If you are able to find Yokohama A509, let us know the price as some people may be intersted in how much they will cost...

you go 5 stud, you can pick up a set of rims with tyres for about the same as bare simmons. plus less chance of shearing off a wheel stud. go 5 stud, trust me! (I would in retrospect)

Redrilling discs was a slight annoyance, but it cost SFA and won't have to be done until I change them again, which isn't going to be in the near future.
I'd only be going 5 stud if I was determined to NOT buy custom wheels (and couldn't find anything I liked in the limited 4-stud off-the-shelf range). As for not shearing off a wheel stud, yes, because I've seen this happen on many MA61's With new high tensile studs as part of the Skyline upgrade, I really can't see it happening.

As for not shearing off a wheel stud, yes, because I've seen this happen on many MA61's

Must be why the changed the new cruisers back to 5stud.
To make them less safe.
Hell, if 5 studs can hold up 2.5tonne of cruiser in offroad situations, then 4 studs is somewhat overkill for 1300kg of MA61.

Hrmm... will keep that in mind and toss that idea around when it comes time for me to get rims. I've got my mind set on a set of Simmons though and redrilling brake rotors for bigger brakes doesnt really bother me.
We'll just have to see. Rims/brakes are a long way away I reckon. Still paying off bits of my 7M conversion

i put the stock rims off the white supra on the silver one, and the rism off the silver supra on the white one!! i think they look heaps better, my silver car is pretty much like yours now, i got eagers on the stock 14's as well, and i agree pretty shithouse traction in the wet, and average grip in the dry

alright guys. my dilemma is engine swapping has gone one further. for a small fee i can have the 7m and 5m swapped, so the white car has the 7m and the red (obviously) the 5m.
im considering leaving it in the red one, and perhaps getting a black paintjob.
all complications/costs/whatever aside, i just want you to post pictures of good-looking white, deep red and black ma61s.
and any ideas on what would look nicest too.

As soon as I can figure out wtf is happening with my electricals as the battery light comes on and off as I am driving, I may consider getting Simmons OM16s (Malloy look) or FR17s (FWDSux) that are on the CS.Com members' cars as those wheels suit, the ones you posted will cost way too much and try and insure with those wheel ... I just wonder how much Simmons wheels cost each...

Has anyone put a G series dif in their MA61 before? I had a search around but couldn't find anything, I only ask because my F series is on it's way out, doesn't sound too healthy, and I've got a free G series LSD from a Cressida Grenade sitting at home. So, to save the cost of finding a new F series LSD, or getting an after market center for it, I'd rather put the G series in.

Blake is going to attempt it.
But its far from worth it.
The MA61 is light enough to get away with the F series.
So unless you are planning 300 wide slicks, just get a Torsen.

Yup, rebuilding the F diff with a brand new torsen centre will be cheaper than doing a G series conversion, even if you already have the G series centre. Getting custom driveshafts fabricated is the killer with IRS diff conversions, big $$$.
As noted the F diff is more than adequate for an MA61. In the last 2 years I've killed 3 W5x's behind my 2JZ, and the diff isn't even making any noise yet.

I have a spare rear X-member and want to do the same, and whilst I have some pictures, I don't have any measurements.
The cost of sending the x-member up to brissy and back is a bit high as well, so will keep looking to do it here, but before I launch into it, I'd rather have the measurements, as I have the contacts to do the work.

Quick update on my rear suspension plans. The workshop at the Gold Coast who did Paul Pyyvaara's camber mod still have my spare crossmember, but the latest word from them is they can't get suitably-sized camber bolts; they claim that no-one in the world makes them any more. Translation: we can't be arsed looking.
So, I went to see my regular suspension guy (Ken from Accurate Suspension) who has a lot of experience setting up old Datsuns for circuit work, so he knows a thing or two about correcting massive camber on trailing-arm IRS suspension. I asked for a quote on adjustable camber, height-adjustable spring seats, custom springs (approx 50lb heavier is the plan) and Koni adjustable shocks to match the front. Estimated price was around $1600 for the lot, which is pretty reasonable IMO.
Having said that, I'm about to buy my first house so non-essential expenditure is on hold for the time being. Hopefully I'll have sensible rear camber some day, I've only been waiting two years!
