97+ supra can be imported in to OZ?

hey one of my ugly friend bring in a 97/98 jza80 with 2jz VVTI in? what'd hell is going on? i thought you can only brings pre-96 in to the country?
any update?
i have noticed that the car used a "reused" complaince plate which is coloured in pink rather than green....

JZA80's up until the 1/99 can be imported, after that you'd have to do a dodgy to get it complied.
Green is a dealer import, Pink is a personal import plate I believe, somebody will know for sure though.

thnaks due...teah i was a differnt stroy when i asked the compalance plate holder half years ago when there was someone sell a 99 black supra at $9000

Didn't SEV's recently stop all importation of the JZA80, just like alot of other imports?
Best to check with them before getting any ideas, either that or find a reasonably late model JZA80 already complianced.
