air-con probs

Hey all,
Just having a little prob with my air-con in my jza-70.
After using it, it will stop working (both cooling and heating). The light on the dash starts flicking on and off in both A/C mode and ECON mode. It does this at random intervals and I can't pin it to one cause.
Could it just possibly need to be regassed, or will the compressor be shagged and need replacing ? Opinions pls!
Cheers,
Luke

personally I think your compressor maybe on the way out. I had the same problem with the Camry. to check if your Air-conditioner unit needs regasing:-
There should be a sight glass above the reciver/dryer. start your car up with the Air- conditioner on and let it run for a few minutes and observe the flow of refrigerent through the sight glass. If there is a heap of bubbles flowing throw it means it is low. I must ask, Does it blow cold air at all when it's being used/ before it stops?

When it's being used, yes it does blow cold air or hot air or whatever I still use it for.
It functions perfectly, except when it cuts out and blows normal air!

I'd do as mick suggested and check to see if you can see bubbles in your filter\dryer shells sight glass. Although that doesnt sound as if its the case
Perhaps you have a faulty switch somewhere, either the pressure switch on your AC compressor or a temp sensor.

The flashing A/C light simply means that a fault has been logged in the A/C ECU.
You need to bridge two terminals on the check connector to get it to spit out the code.
I don't remember which pins off the top of my head though

Alldata says that a flashing A/C light can mean:
slipping compressor drive belt.
faulty revolution sensor.
or faulty A/C amplifier.
