Wheel to Guard gap difference at front - Help needed

Hey all,
I am wondering if anyone has come across this issue with their car before,
I have recently put wider wheels on the car and doing so have noticed that the gap between the front guards and the wheels is different each side. On the lefthand side front the wheel sits nearly flush with the edge of the guard, but on the right handside (drivers side) the wheel actually sits in further.... over all id say the drivers side front wheel sits in about half an inch more.
The rear wheels have the same distance, so no issues at all there.
I have inspected the car all over at the front and there is no evidence of any crash damage, also had the front bar off and all is ok behind that too.
The only thing I can think of is the crossmember has been changed to the jza70 one, so maybe it was not put on exactly centre.. dunno if this is even possible?
Any help here would be fantastic as is bugging the hell out of to why its not perfectly centred.
When I get home tonight I will measure the exact distance each side from the edge of the tyre to the outside of the wheel arch.

camber/castor/toe settings?
maybe go for an alignment.
strut towers straight?
i've got this problem too, my passenger side is flush with the guard (sits right on it, can't even fit a 20c coin in between ) where as my driver's is abit further in.
but i've changed my control arms so that'd explain why.

Yeah I initially thought it may be the alignment, but just had that done and no change.. I forgot to ask them too which is annoying .
Everything else is straight from what I can tell.
btw LOL that is tight

LOL!
Nup wheels are definately the same width, were brought brand new ...also measured them to make sure before they were put on.
Car has bolt on spacers yep, but I checked the width of them before putting them on... they are identical.
It's a mystery I tell ya!

maybe swop the spacers and wheels on front right and left, and if the problem remains on the same side that rules your wheels out.
