Hey guys,
When I drop down gears, teh diff is now making a whining type noise, is this signs of failure??

no its a sign of wear on the teeth on the crownwheel and pinion. doesnt mean the diff will die tomorrow...

That Nulon G70 Diff and Gearbox treatment will quiten it down.

Fixing it could be as simple as adjusting the backlash on the crownwheel and pinion. Remember the longer you drive it like that the more wear you're causing, so get it looked at as soon as you can.
Oh and thicker oil, oil additives, sawdust etc will make the noise go away (at least for a while) but it doesn't fix the problem.

When mine was whining, it was the pinion bearing. Did you have the diff center removed or done a lot of kilometers? Most probably it's a bearing, but which one?
