1UZ sump issues

Finally started to do the 1UZ into HZ project, and as expected have got issues with the sump. We're using a Crown 1UZ with the mid sump, which is still too far forward to clear the crossmember. We hacked a (big!) hole in the floor/firewall, and it's still causing issues! Looks like we'll have to do something similiar to the one they did at Toyospares, and make a sump. Can anyone give any suggestions/ideas to help us out with this little issue? Also where abouts is the sump on a 2UZ (landcruiser)?

What sump do you need? A front or a mid, I;m not sure from your description.

Wasn't there a version of the 1UZFE with a rear-sump or am I dreaming?

I had to get a new sump for mine, I think its more mid than rear.
Will try another fit tomorrow (havn't tried it with new sump yet).
There are 3 different configs I *think* - lexus, soarer, crown.
I still don't bloody know which one I've got. My engine came out of a lexus apparently - front mount. So I got a rear (mid?) mount out of a soarer. as far as I know.

Being a HZ you will need a rear sump......high energy in melbourne can modify any sump to your needs ....their prices are also very good!!!
www.highenergy.com.au
Loads of people(on here) are often asking about sumps for their 1uz conversions........Get the engine in,take some measurements and get someone who know`s what they are doing to modify it to your needs!!!.....it shouldn`t cost more than $200 for most conversions!....too easy!

Called High Energy this morning - 'Toyota make a V8? didn't know that... nah look we can give you one to put a Holden engine into a Hilux...'
Castlemaine Rod Shop are apparently working on a kit of sump, mounts, Xmember for this conversion though.

I actually called them this morning about modifying a 2JZ sump......they couldn't quite come at the concept of a 2 part sump - cast aluminium upper and pressed steel tray.
Then you rang them with the "Toyota V8".....they must have thought it was the freaks day out!

First time I tried to call them they didn't bother to pick up the phone. My later conversation was somewhat amusing though - 'Toyota? a V8? Are you sure you don't mean putting a V8 into a Toyota?' 'Quad cams, you sure about that? 4 litres, so its even smaller than a 253 is it? nah, don't get much call for stuff like that around here... We do kits for the Holden V6 though...'
I've got a good mind to call them again tomorrow!

ahhh, the 2sh!ttythree... and the 'good old' 308 - an engine so carefully constructed that it featured a devistatingly effective natural rev limiter - 5000+ = headless pistons! Nah I've still got some respect for the traditional V8's though, but nothing can beat the value for money aspect of the 1UZ - and the 3UZ is a fine thing too - dare I be a true plick and mention the nissan V8's while I'm at it?

The general concensus from what I've found is that the Infiniti (Nissan) V8's are really good, but not quite as thoroughly engineered as the 1UZFE and 3UZFE, even if they are slightly bigger capacities.
