I just found out that Matthew Green from the Celica Car Club of Qld is selling his pride and joy, a beautifully restored 1977 RA23 Celica with a 1JZ-GTE conversion.
It's a top-notch job, fully engineered and road legal. He's transplanted everything from the donor car (Chaser) including the ABS, traction control, digital dash, A/C, P/S, full wiring harness, the works. Also has Commodore brakes up front and a Commodore rear axle conversion, both from a VS I think.
More pics available here. Asking price is $10k at the moment, which is a pretty good deal I reckon considering the amount of work that's gone into it. If anyone wants to know more let me know and I'll pass on Matt's contact details.

SNEZR, Queensland is only a $99 flight away.
Awesome car, the only thing that would put me off is that it is auto.
Looks smick though, what's with the PVC pipe??

I keep telling him it looks bodgy, but he won't listen to me! He uses it because PVC is a good insulator, hence it keeps engine bay heat out of the inlet system. A good idea, but I'd prefer HPC coated steel pipe myself.
Note that this car will probably be going to Dubbo next year if it hasn't sold by then, so you'll all get a chance to look at it.

mattys selling it ? for family reasons or a new project??
was a nice car to see in action on dyno day - the only ones that topped it by memory was a heavily modified Mr2 - and a modified 200sx if memory recalls
Of course mine came after it on the dyno - and its nice - and also VERY humbling to see a car produce 4 times the RWH that you have ..
Thanks to matty of just committed myself to over 1500 dollars of cam , weber , and engine mods - so i can at least crack triple figures ( ie +100hp plus at the rears )
its a great car if anyone wants a dragstrip monster
