5M-GE MX73, advice

Well my baby came way too early and the Celsior is running late, so I had to buy a 4 door car to bridge the gap, I bought a registered MX73 GLXi Cressida for a relatively good price. It has a 5M-GE in it, goes pretty smoothly. Any common problems with these that I should look out for? Appreciate any info, thanks.
Oh yeah, it will be for sale once I get my Celsior too, if anyone is interested.

Motor wise, only oil leaks, providing the engine has been looked after.
And this is usally limited to cam seals, and cam cover gaskets.
Valve stem seals are pretty common to go too.
Look for a puff of smoke on startup, and after long idles.
Make sure all the intake piping has no leaks in it. Leaks are very common.
Check the timing too, bad timing = poor performance.
Diffs and auto's are usually on their way out at this stage of their life if they are the original one.
But replacements can be found cheaply.
And it probably doesn't matter if its an interim car.
Expect the suspension to be soft and squishy too.
All in all, nothing more wrong that you'd expect from a 17 year old car.

its an 85 model so its 20yrs old, I was suprised to see the 5mge in there, was expecting the 5me.
It had a head gasket replaced about 10k ago and it goes quite well.
The gear box does sound a bit like a taxi gearbox, which doesnt suprise me as it has almost 300k on it, but it doesnt slip or anything.
The suspension is soft, but still smooth over bumbs and stuff.
One thing I cant seem to find is where the switch is to make the interior light come on when you open the door
Overall its a very nice car interior is almost perfect, it has those seats with the buttons all over them, looks a bit like an 80's lounge chair.
The extior is ok, besides the clear coat peeling off the bonnet and the roof. Can I just polish that clear off or something?
Cheers
Dust.

I'm pretty sure its on the B-pillar like most cars.
There isnt a dash one, but there is a switch on the light itself.

I know nothing about these engines really, was the sarcasm, or should I retourque the head bolts?
Also when accelerating its not smooth all the time, it hesitates throught the revrange, just slightly, what would cause this?

Could be anything from bad plugs, bad leads, bad dizzy cap, bad rotor, blocked fuel filter, blocked air filter.
Anything on the air/fuel/ignition side of things.
Could also be the tranny needs a flush.
