Mx73 Diff Conversion Wed, 29 May 2002 10:44 Go to next message
Hey guys, I'm keen to find out what is easy and what is involved in a conversion for my cressida. I know Joey put a 300zx diff into the LIMO, what else is available.

I need to know asap, mine only has a month or so left at best.

Luke

PS ( AND I KNOW WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO GO THANKS TO MY SPRINTER DAYS!)

The only IRS system that i would even think of adapting is 'oooh nooo' R200. They are cheap and strong.

Silvia diff, skyline diff, 300ZX.

Edit: custom CV's are $$$

Depends what you mean by “hard”. Modify diff cradle (extensive), modify tail shaft coupling, shorten and re-spline axles. A lot of work went into it and it wasn’t a simple drive-in drive out. The cradle came out about 3 times for modification and the axles about the same. Joe did much of the work himself and was fortunate to have the assistance of people ‘in-the-know’. I would estimate a drive-in drive-out conversion would cost in the order of $1000-$1500 (excluding purchase of diff). Saying all that though, I’m sure Joe wouldn’t mind talking to anyone who is looking at doing this conversion.

I actually looked at this very mod yesterday - well, replacing an F series IRS diff with a G series version. Logistically, it probably would be easiest to drop the whole diff cradle/rear suspension out of the car to begin the extensive mods. Needs tailshaft , halfshaft and diff cradle mods. I couldn't imagine getting out of it for less than 1000 (if you did all the grunt work yourself), plus diff. Nope
